Because you are over hyping Barkley in your own brain. It happens a lot when we get linked to a player, suddenly he's a lot better than we all thought before the link.I'm sure it's been mentioned before but can't believe the other big boys are not in for him...say Chelsea, with Matic on the way to ManU, they currently have Kante, Fabregas, Bakayoko, Hazard, Willian and Pedro as their senior CM/AM - they can easily get Barkley if they are interested you'd think?

Barkley the most getable but also would be burried 5 feet under the bench behind Bakayoko, Hazard, Pedro, and Willian. Ox has been rumored to be on the out all summer, so that's probably a doable deal but hard to see how he fits anywhere in their team or bench. Drinkwater is the Matic backup they could probably see working and has the Kante history, but he comes in at the cost of Bakayoko which, why spend so much on Bakayoko if you don't want him?Sky Sports saying Chelsea's midfielder targets are Drinkwater, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Barkley.

Sorry but whilst this might be true for a couple of positions e.g backup striker, RB, we have plenty of options in most othersThis couldn't describe better the heart of the problem currently faced by THFC. Reasonably priced 1st team players are reluctant to come as they seriously want game time and don't want to keep fighting for their place. The more costly one will want wages above the current limits so upsetting the current squad and possibly even set off a scramble for pay increases. Having kept on adding bench players or bringing in potential hoping they will make it, doesn't challenge the dozen who feel their places are in danger which could encourage complacency. Somehow the system we have adopted for wage limits and transfers has inadvertently created this position we find ourselves in.
It seems a risky business to jeopardise the good position we currently enjoy by suddenly really upping our wage ceiling and paying over the odd transfer fees. For the moment it seems we probably should continue to trust in the current policy and hope that the transfers MP hinted at will happen. There is little to be gained by trying to second guess whether our system will push us into 5th or 6th place. After all, if things aren't going well, there is still the winter window to do something about it.
It isn't just on here that people see the possibility of losing are best players if it looks like we are heading for 5th or 6th place. Both MP and DL will be aware of the danger and I feel sure there is a plan B to avoid it happening. We are too far down the road to foolishly throw it all away.

Dont get me wrong, there's some talent there obviously, but this is a player that couldnt hold down a place in Evertons team at certain stages of last season.
