Just what we need, and on a free transfer too. This would be a typical Harry signing.

It mentions that he has flown over for a medical. Hopefully not 'the failed' medical that has been claimed...

Ruuuuuuud!!! Can he form a partnership with Defoe though - at Least we would have a lethal pen taker. Maybe Harry wants 2 box strikers to allow more space for luka niko Lennon hudd et al

Not sure about this one - articles all seem to state that he wants first team football which he'll either not get because of Crouch and Defoe or he will get it and one of those two will be benched more often. Either situation leaves us with another grumpy striker on the bench.

I still prefer having 3 top class strikers and then using either and up and comer as 4th choice (GDS, Obika) or at a push support from one of our midfielders (Kranky, Modric, Lennon).

Ruud from a couple of years ago would be a no brainer. I haven't seen him lately though but the stats show he hasn't played much this year. Is there any danger that his injuries have caught up with him?

Whenever he has played for Real Madrid he has still scored goals. A bit like Ronaldo i suppose. He'll be ideal for a 4th striker. Its always going to be difficult to get someone injury free and in their prime to compete with Keane, Defoe and Crouch. So someone like Nistelrooy who is in his 30s, has had his injuries, and wont be expecting to start every game, is probably the best we can get.

If he comes he'll be first choice. Defoe usually offers nothing bar goals. Rudd is the same but is a much better finisher, well a much better predator in general.

Kind of agree, I think he could start more often, but not over Defoe, more Keane! and then Crouch would be the option player.

Could play Ruud up frount wih Defoe  would be my choice i he came in, dont see why we should piss of our top stiker this season and putto the bench for a striker wewil have a season or season ad half tops

I can see some advantage in having him. A bigger predator in the box than JD might encourage us to get the ball into the box more than we did against the likes of Wolves and Hull.

However, I can also see him being crowded out by the sheer numbers of defenders, and his lack of mobility may not be we what we need.

But he would be a better option than Pav, for certain.

Defoe has got alot better since his first stint at the club, but to compare him to Ruud, even at 33 is laughable. I think Ruud is still a far better player in every way bar pace, which admittedly is a major requirement to lack, but when you're as good as ruud it's not essential. Ruud's always been about right place right time. A predator in it's truest form.

I think we could pull off Ruud and Defoe up front. We have so much creativity from midfield now we don't necessarily need a partnership that rely on feeding off each other just people who can put the ball in the back of the net. Chance creation wasn't a problem against Hull we need someone who can finish consistently.

To those who think he's old and past it.
Assanal signed Campbell, MC signed Viera. If we sign Ruud it would be very exciting to see who's gamble pays off.
