To those who think he's old and past it.
Assanal signed Campbell, MC signed Viera. If we sign Ruud it would be very exciting to see who's gamble pays off.

We've yet to see how Campbell or Viera will do though.

That's exactly my point. They took a risk, why can't we? All of them have been top players and maybe they still have something in the tank.

Between three of them imo RVN is the best bet.

Has Ruud played at all for Real this season, would he be anywhere near fit?

I'd like us to sign Ruud but they would need to look into his injuries etc. He's probably be on massive wages so even if we get him on a free, it could still costs us a significant amount of money and may cause others to start asking for a raise.

But if he is anywhere near as good as he was at United

He also already hates Arsenal.

That's the beauty of it

I agree with your points about injuries etc. but if Harry were to sing him I hope all these issues have been considered and the player is nice and fit to be given a chance. But if he performs anything like he used to do it would be a massive coup. Don't know why I am so excited about RVN in Spurs shirt, maybe cause he's a legendary striker and a big name around Europe. Maybe I still remember Edgar Davids effect

That point is key. Not only can he still cut the mustard in front of goal, think of what he could teach JD. The coaching skills alone from RVN would be worth the wages, if it make JD a more clinical finsher.

I'd be happy to take him on loan! He's big and strong, and could be a better partner for Defoe than either Crouch or Keane. He also has a good footballing head on his shoulders and I can see him setting up chances for Defoe.

would love this to happen even if it was only short term. As people have said our chance creation is fantastic and at home to shitty defensive teams we could have done with someone like him.

RVN could be for our strikers what Davids was for Carrick and Lennon. Inspirational.

Just what we need, and on a free transfer too. This would be a typical Harry signing.

:grin:Exaxatly (EXACTLY:grin:) what I was gon' to say.

Interesting to consider, given all of the Keano debates raging about his form and which strikers he can play with (oooeeeeer, missus:eek:mg:), if f he could forge a successful partnership with the Long Faced One:shrug:

Loan signing till the end of the season would be best, best way of assessing his fitness as his injury is a major concern for me

Sign him on a 2 year deal and 3 months in he does his knee in again then we are stuck with 21 months of presumably about £70k a week+

Looks like they have suspended betting on Skybet, although this could just because of SC users having a flutter this morning!

I think all these things would be considered and if an offer was made it would probably be a 6 month deal with an option to extend for a further 2 years depending on his fitness/performance. Wages could be an issue but we could give a modest signing on bonus and a second, more lucrative, bonus should he activate the clause in 6 months.

As a player i always thought he was special and remember a few years back when he tore our defence apart with Rooney at the lane (and he was far better than Roon). He's probably not what he was but i think he'd offer more than Pav and Keane are at the moment and you could argue that he'd make more of an impact on games than Crouch (although i think 3MP does a lot more in games than he gets credit for).

Is this an old Quote? Its been used to update the mirrors report.

Redknapp said: "It's an interesting one. Van Nistelrooy is a fantastic player with a proven goalscoring record in England, and if he was available it could be of interest to us.

The thing with Horse-Head that we all need to realise is this; 'Arry said recently that the top teams have two World Class players (truly World Class, that is), and we have one - in the alluring shape of Lovely Luka:grin: Van Nistleroy is a truly World Class player - providing he is fit enough and not too far past his peak. He is also a player who truly knows what it is to have a winning mentality.

When first muted, I was decidedly cool about this, but that was when we still hoped that Pav might be the business (in the summer), now, I think he could be a brilliant impact player, who could add shed-loads to the squad's mentality.
