He was in our starting 11 in a season we finished 5th in the league, he's a very decent player, he should be bossing that Hull team, I'm not sure what's going wrong for him..

that season he was as surprised as anyone to be given an opportunity and play played like his life depended on it, an unsustainable level of performance where he ran and pressed like crazy. the real test was always gonna be once the adrenaline, excitement, nerves die down as well as the new contract how will he perform and he just couldn't reach those levels he attained in his 1st season doing the things he did best, mentioned above

I'd disagree, i'd suggest that Winks didn't get the run in the starting eleven that Mason did and hasn't had the opportunity to be a part of a weak showing by the team yet. TC had a run for us in Europe a couple of years back and the most common phrase was "He needs to bulk up" as the oppo had figured out he weighed the same as kitchen roll. When Winks finds himself running out at the start for a few weeks on the bounce and doesn't produce something magic, he'll get the same ribbing Mason and Steve Rogers got/get for their efforts i expect.

It's the same with all players trying to establish themselves in the first team; no-one is on form for 38 games a season and our fans can be pretty ruthless if you turn up with anything but your a-game.
Winks' movement and positioning isn't quite as good as Masons, and his passing isn't quite as good as Carrols; but he's quite good at both and those two are quite shit with the other.

I think we always give our former players a good reception (unless they've bad-mouthed the club in any way upon leaving). I think we're pretty good like that.

We gave Naughton and Siggy good rounds of applause at the Swansea game too. The only ex-player I've ever seen us boo is the ****.

Yes, and quite right too. I was just thinking, it's a good job Hossam Ghaly never came back...!

Oh my God.

The medics seemed so slow. They didn't seem so worried.

Bloody hell.
