Bale - Left midfield, covered by...
Adebayor - Centre forward, covered by...
Lennon - Right midfield, covered by...
Walker - Right back, covered by...

On the one hand there are posters claiming we have players that any other side would be pleased to have, and they're right. On the other hand there are posters claiming we haven't rotated enough. In the above instances who comes in for the players when we want to rotate? Bear in mind that players we have loaned out, (presumably to reduce the wage bill), cannot play for us, therefore saying Corluka, Pienaar etc., is not really constructive.

I always thought that you rotated and used different options throughtout the autumn and the first half of the season, which kept everyone fresh and in good nick to maximise performance at the business end of the campaign.

We did have a squad, the likes of Corluka, Pienaar, even Bassong yet didnt use them and they have left. Now the first team is running on empty and a few injuries and we look short because a) we sold/loaned the cover and b) the players we do have left like Kranjcar havent played for months and then come in when we are desperate and look rusty as hell. Solid enough replacements who can do a job (some of whom cost quite a lot of dollar) but we deemed surplus to requirements, so I dont think it can be blamed on a lack of money.

On a completely unrelated point, I have to question why some of our players have run out of steam when we didnt bother with the Europa League and so effectively a lot of this group have only been playing league matches. Other teams in multiple competitions seem to be lasting the pace well enough. Are the fitness levels up to scratch?

its because there is no in between in form with redknapp as manager....we are either bloody good or absolutely shocking..

if there was an in between we wouldnt be on the cusp of losing our top 4 status would we because we would have scraped some draws & wins in the this awful run & i would keep my mouth shut (to the relief of many):)

:)

So, if we'd have picked up a few less points at the start of the season and a few more points over the last 8 or 9 games and it were more evenly spread out results-wise and we were in exactly the same position as we are now, would that count as an 'in between'?

Or would it be not good enough?

it would be easier to take than what has happened for sure...we have such talent, i dont personally think he has utilised it at all well...

its my opinion of course & i have genuinly praised him when he deserved it imo...im not anti redknapp, just anti any manager that doesnt seem to learn from his mistakes thats all...

That's fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion I just think that if you approached it a bit more calmly then your thoughts might be better received ;)

Yes it isn't a very nice feeling but most clubs have bad patches of varying degrees. Look at the scum early on this season. Look at Liverpool. Look at City now. Its a good job we had such a galloping start otherwise we'd be in 7th or 8th now.

Always look on the bright side of life. Der der, der derda derda deh

sorry but this is rubbish...

chelsea are old & close to being finished, Liverpool are literally shocking, Arsenal are a shadow of the team theyve had over the last god knows how many years & this is easily the worst Manchester United team probably to grace the prem....Man City squad is better by a mile than everyones & the fact is mancini has made a right balls up of their season....

this league was wide open for the first time in forever & we have players that 90% of the teams in the division would take in a heartbeat...BALE, MODRIC, ADEBAYOR, LENNON, VAN DER VAART, PARKER, WALKER, KABOUL....

It's really not. The standard of football that year was poor, just because there was a wide open championship doesn't mean it's weak, if anything it means the teams are stronger.

As for your 'go back and look at my posts', I'd be shocked if there was a way to do that on a forum that has just changed over to new software. Maybe that's why you said it......for someone who frequents the forum a lot I really don't remember you posting anything in the good times of this season.

Hey ho, move on. Our new manager is on Sky Sports 1.

If I remember correctly, Corluka, Bassong and Pienaar were all were all loaned out expressely because they were so unhappy not getting game time. I think we would be in a much better position if we hadn't loaned them out, I don't think we should have loaned them out.

We all know that our revenues will not be at the top competitive levels until we have our new stadium, but I really don't think these loans were an attempt to penny-pinch. And I think they were the all mistakes.

Theoretically, Bale and Lennon are both covered by Krankjar - some thought he looked good in his cameos - I was never convinced - or (pigs may fly) GDS. I also think Redknapp was counting on THudd coming back (sic.), and that that would allow Modric to cover the flanks. Alternatively, playing Modric ahead of two of Parker/Livermore/Sandro, also allows VDV to move out wide - personally I hate that, but that's not the point.
Adebayor is covered by Saha - whether anyone likes that or not is not the point.
Theoretically, Walker can be covered by Kaboul - I, personally, think that is the worst option, but that is the theory.

But, like I said, I would have been far happier with Corluka, Bassong, and, most particularly, Pienaar, still in the squad.

Something thats not getting a lot of attention here ...it almost too obvious . A manager who wants to get on with the players..
maybe isn't so fussy 'bout this sort of thing .

I don't think the relative strength or weakness of our squad means diddly squat when you boil it down. Harry doesn't rotate. never has, unless forced to through injury. Unless it's just putting a team of reserves and yoof out in some cup he doesn't give a shit about.

Our squas was/is strong enough anyway so lets just call that excuse bullshit shall we.

...or even started talking as "us" instaed of "they" or "tottenham" maybe he would get a little more credit???
Wondered when this chestnut would crop up again... I wish someone would find a quote from 'Arry where he has said this when not grammatically correct.
They = the board
They = the club before his time
They = the supporters/fans
They (sometimes) = the players
We = the club since Harry took over
We = the team/squad as a whole
We = the management team/coaching staff

What I really don't get is why our players look so tired? Could we do more at the club to improve fitness? But watching from the stands on Monday I thought we looked really jaded. A team that has run out of steam and I really don't understand why?! We have played a pretty steady side in the league but in both cups we have put out our fringe players and they have hardly had to play weds/thu and then sat/sun.

I just don't get it.

Are you kidding? After losing 3-0 to QPR and 0 points out of the last 12! I say sack the idea of him being the new manager because he's clearly not good enough. Too pally with the players no doubt.

Or did you mean Hughes? Sorry....

Said the same in my post above... I have my suspicions that fitness levels arent what they could be.

It was tongue in cheek mate, we're having the discussion in the Tactics thread. I've always preferred Lambert anyway but no doubt this will be another defeat that is ignored by those that have a hard on for him.

I know this isn't going to happen, but instead of all these people now coming out and moaning about what Harry/Modric/King/Levy/Bale etc etc etc have and haven't done, why not just get 100% behind the team for the final 6 or 7 games of the season, see where we end up and then pass judgement.

Of course it won't happen because these days with forums like these it's just so easy to criticise and seek to destroy any feeling of success which then perpetuates doom and gloom

I just happen to have been going to Spurs since 1974 and we are still close to having one of our best ever seasons. I bet that if against Norwich the crowd had been up for it and tried to be the 12th man then it would have had an effect, Instead as others have commented, the crowd were flat, complaining at the smallest mistakes (and yes there were some big mistakes as well) and were true to the Spurs tradition of glass totally empty.

No wonder the players are showing signs of fatigue if the supporters can't get behind them. With 5 minutes to go the stadium was half empty (was there a fire drill) and the superb Norwich fans made it like a home game for them.

We seem to be getting what we deserve!
