The Scot had denied the charge after describing assistant referee Simon Beck's performance as "shockingly bad", but has been found guilty by an Independent Regulatory Commission
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been fined by the Football Association following comments regarding assistant referee Simon Beck in the aftermath of the club's 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

The 71-year-old had denied the official charge on February 1, but has now been fined £12,000 for the disparaging remarks about Beck's "shockingly bad" performance following a decision by an Independent Regulatory Commission which included written evidence by the United boss.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw, which saw Tottenham net an injury-time equaliser, Sir Alex pulled up past examples of mistakes by Beck and highlighted Wayne Rooney's unsuccessful penalty appeal

He said: "I think we should have had a throw-in down our side of the pitch but that linesman never gave us a thing all day.

"For me, it was a poor performance by him. He never saw the penalty kick for Wayne Rooney and some other decisions too.

"We remember him well from his time at the Chelsea game when Didier Drogba was three yards offside and he gave onside. I think he had a shocking game today, and I'm disappointed in his performance, I really am.

"I think he has had a bad game, and we never got anything from that side of the pitch. We got a bad break."

FINALLY YOU TWAT!!! MUAHAHAAHAH

£12,000 is peanuts to Fergie, this isn't even a token gesture from the FA. If they were serious about punish whisky-nose they would have given him a sideline match ban

I think too much of a big deal is made of comments about refs after the game. If a manager thinks that a ref had a bad game he should be allowed to say so.

Very true but then then there would be a chance that the FA won't win the premiership title back of their local rivals...he's such a hypocrite it makes me sick...only today he's been sticking the boot into Stuart Pearce for breaking doctor/patient confidentiality for revealing Phil jones has shingles......but he was more than happy to expose Darren fletcher for having dodgy bowels.

Shocking, Alex Ferguson acts like a **** and the FA fail to find enough backbone to do anything about it....

He didn't say "the ref had a bad game". He implied that the assistant ref was biased against Manchester United by saying he wasn't going to give them anything.

He's not just saying the ref had a bad game though, is he? With the Didier Drogba goal comment, he's implying that the linesman is biased against Man Utd.

Fuck off you miserable old c***. Great manager sure but I'm sick of the sight of him, he's been there since I was 8 years old! Please just retire.

what a twat! shingles are highly contagious and the few people like me who have never had chicken pox as a kid have to stay away from them in case we catch it as an adult which is serious. Dr paitent confidentiality!!!! Jones should be walking around with a bell shouting unclean!
