Peace is going to look like such a genius to WBA fans when he holds on to a diminishing asset that the manager refuses to play for another 6 months, only to then either lose him on a free or sell him for way under market value...

I can't wait to add up the total appearances this season and compare that to the difference in his transfer value.

Tony Pulis had to deal with a fresh raft of questioning on the future of striker Saido Berahino. He gave little away but acknowledges he has made a few calls to line up potential replacements.

The Berahino tale seems certain to run through to Monday evening.

"We will have to wait until Monday", said Pulis.

Think he will end up at Newcastle. The relationship between Levy and Peace seems to be frosty to say the least. Can't see us giving them a penny.

Would be pissed off if he ends up somewhere else as I believe he could have made an impact for us this season.

It would be a bit galling if him and Townsend absolutely tear it up for Newcastle. He's definitely talented, but we can't make them sell him to us.

Not with the fitness and conditioning work Poch makes new players go through. Look at how gradually Son, Wimmer and Njie have been introduced since the summer.

He'll be a good fit for Newcastle - that's his level

The best thing for Berahino would be to knuckle down for the rest of the season, score some goals and show Poch that he's worth it in the Summer.

I still think he'll be great for us - just needs to reportedly get his head straight

Couldn't we just get Standard Liege to buy him, and then buy him from them or does that only work with Zeki Fryers?

In all seriousness, it would be poor form to miss out on a signing because of a grudge held by our chairman. If the manager still wants him, personal differences should be put aside.

There is that and there's also the main point being these guys come from other leagues and we know the premier league takes a while to get used too.

Berahino at least has the premier league experience

The best thing for Berahino would be to come here and improve by playing in a much better team.

Levy needs to make this happen - it's daylight madness not to bring in an extra striker...

There seems to be a lot of posturing going on with WBA and the other clubs here (including us).

I reckon we still want him but are waiting for Newcastle (or another team) to force Peace's hand.

If Newcastle offer say £17/£18m and Peace agrees, but SB doesn't want to go to Newcastle, in theory we could match that bid knowing that we're his preferred club.

Peace would look a prize tool if he said no to 1 club and yes to another and then keeping an unhappy player on the books that neither Manager or fans want...

I think there is still are still a few poker hands to be played.

I think he's been doing the first part, but then Pulis puts him on the bench and doesn't pick him.

See this, again: http://www.thesecretfootballer.com/...middle-of-chairman-manager-transfer-standoff/

Apparently, the player has been training well, according to reports that I’ve heard. He’s got his head down lately but that might be because it’s January and he wants to leave. In fact, I know he wants to leave.
...
And the manager is trying every trick in the book to have the player sold by making him sit very publicly on the bench while telling the world what a great lad he is and that, at the moment, he just doesn’t fit into the style and shape of the team.

hmm

It's been clear for quite some time that Pulis has been desperate to sell him. Initially I thought that was because he didn't suit his style and would fund 2-4 incoming transfers, but there also seems to be some kind of financial gain for him also.

If Pulis was playing him it would make Peace look a lot better.

Trippier, Davies and Vorm have taken about the longest to settle of all our recent signings.

But probably due to the fact they haven't played. Length of time yes, not number of appearances.
