I disagree. I rate Gomes highly but I am not left panicking at corners when Friedel is between the sticks whereas i'm on the verge of a heart attack at every set piece with Gomes.

Yep my feelings as well....

Take your negativity out of this thread :hand:

We have had enough negativity the last few weeks to at least be positive about one of our best players signing a new 5 year deal.

Agreed it is fantastic news and makes a nice change from all the shit we have been getting.

Ahhhh, nice one Sandro and could be nice little bit of encouragement for Leandro to sign as well.

Like modric showed this summer, signing a long contract don't mean anything anymore

I agree, plus Sandro probably already had at least 4 years on his current contract so this new one is probably more a rewarding of his form with more money rather than any indication he will be at the club long term (nothing changes in that respect

Good news in as far as hopefully it shows he is happy or will perhaps contribute towards more long term happiness.

I feel this is more about money for him than it is our security in keeping him at Spurs though. How much longer is this contract than what he already had in place? and how much more protection would it offer us if bigger clubs came in and turned his head?

slowly, we will see levy's plan fall into place. clearly, he wanted to move deadwood wages off the balance sheet, and now he's going to start tying up our best players to long-term, higher-salaried contracts. 'tis the smart, and logical thing to do. wouldn't be surprised if we see updated contracts for bale, vdv, daws, and modders over the next couple of months. hopefully contracts that from a weekly wage perspective are a little more competitve with the big boys in our league.

So transfer request in January then?

Nah seriously, fantastic news.

:eek:mg:

Great news, along with standing firm over Modric, Sandros new contract sends out a real statement of intent.

:hump:
Which, for those who couldn't uderstand why we absolutely had to not give in over Modric this Summer, no matter what was offered, no matter how much he kicked up, no matter if he fails to recover his form, now - this is why!

I agree, however he would have seen what happened with Modric, and still signed it, so if in the next couple of years we refuse to sell him, he can't say he wasn't aware that might happen.

Great news.

:hump:

Top stuff. Now to announce the January signing of Leandro ..

Would like to thknk so...but when Sandro was announced for january, when was it done, exactly? Menaing, if we had a deal for Leandro, wouldn't they just announce it, already...

I was just about to ask if some old slut smashed your back doors in. Amazing.

Honestly, since they invented them thar strap-ons, the shoe is truly on the other foot :eek:mg:

Probably not, but it immediately alerts Chelsea to his need for a yacht trip next summer

Well said Jeremystorey, that's exactly how I interpret the significance of this announcement.

Really looking forward to seeing Sandro start alongside Parker. We will have a couple of real busy fuckers who can play a bit.

It certainly is. I've got a horrible feeling we'll never get to see all 5 on the pitch at the same time. Just can't see Harry going with it.

VDV is gonna go wandering and tuck in to the centre a little, therefore Walker rampaging down the flank is gonna cause other teams problems.

It may also cause us problems if other teams counter but that's where having both Sandro and Parker in midfield comes in as they will sweep behind Walker.
