well my 'wild' and 'amazing' idea came to fruition today

so doubteless harry will be receiving torrents of abuse for such a stupid move

oh wait - no he won't - because it worked perfectly well, we won that particular quarter of the game where he played there 1-0, and the kaboul santos combo was perfectly sound

and all the people who overreacted ridiculously and discourteously to my perfectly valid idea were wrong :)

i'm not saying that santos should start v city at RM - a lot will depend on who returns fit and well from the internationals - but it remains a viable option

Isn't it quite widely known that Gio plays some of his best football on the right so he can cut in?

Gio played most of his Barca career as the right-sided understudy to Messi in Barca's 4-3-3.

Before today I was convinced Gio couldn't play right or left midfield in a 4-4-2. After today I'm convinced he could play both, no problem! In fact - he could play anywhere on that form!

The Kaboul/Gio partnership flourished second half. I'd stick with that for Man City.

Guess it depends how Gio comes back from international duty?

You are correct, so it's hardly a surprise that gio played well today from the right. Hardly worth the self congratulatory thread though.

I can only hope that Gio can keep this level of performance going into the season.

It's an option and on current form he should start there. When Lennon gets back to form, I think Gio will challenge for a spot as the number 10. Preferably with a new centre forward to partner.

er it's worth every bit of the self-congratulation because no-one supported me when i suggested it the other day and loads of people attacked my idea

of course people who know about the game know that GDS can play RM - that''s why i suggested it - it was perfectly valid and reasonable but the cyber pitchforks and torches were out in abundance :)

People attacked you because you said you'd play Gio instead of Lennon because the latter has been out of form for 6 months, nothing to do with playing Gio or his position.

Abundance? Really? Most people know he's best there, so it's probably just the few who aren't on your ignore list that disagreed with you.

Wow! An entire thread started just so you could say "I told you so".

That's really very... something.

Jenas got rave reviews today too didn't he?

Is this thread for real? What are you after exactly? a certificate? a medal?

You're talking like you're the only one who ever thought up the possibility of Gio playing on the right wing!?

And he's not known as "Santos" either, it's either Giovani or Dos Santos.....just so ya know

Precisely the point.

Constantly claiming that Lennon was in poor form for six months, despite being out injured for five of those months, is why people were calling him an idiot.

Although, this is the guy with an unhealthy obsession with all things Jenas. And the same guy who suggested that Jermaine Beckford was a better striker than Robbie Keane. So maybe we should give the poor little lamb his moment to shine.

What a load of bollocks. People disagree squillions of times in almost every thread on the site but you don't see them starting 'I was right' threads all over the place. At best i'd say this is trolling and it's getting locked.

Grow up.

Yep.

I suspect the overwhelming majority of supporters are pleased that Gio can play on the right as it shows his flexibility and gives us more options.
