Also I think, this season has got to be a transitional season. Even at the start of season, the expectations were low.
As long as we go on a cup run try & win something and get minimum 72 points in league (hope thats enough) and play with a consistent style & approach, its good for me.

We need a stable base to work from. The minimum requirement is settle down as a club & start to deliver some consistent good results.

why does everyone forget Yahaya ?

he was our first signing, not a top 25 player but still significant
Mate, he hasnt been in one youth matchday squad, unlike the other youth signings. And the OS never had a word on him. All we've had were stories on african sites from his agents quotes. And he's contradicted himself too. First we signed him back in like December, then he was only on trial here this summer? Who knows if we've even signed him.

We actually have consistent results

Consistently beating the 13 clubs below us

Consistently getting raped by the top teams

I can second statement changing this season with the current squad of players

I said consistency in style of play not in results.

Yes. Personally don't see this window as a failure really. We made some very decent signings. As for the ones we were linked with and didn't close - I can't say I'm too bothered. Either they didn't fit into our plans or were over-valued. Either way we conducted ourselves sensibly and nothing wrong can be said about that IMO. Looking forward to seeing the first teamers bed in and Poch impressing his philosophy this season.

Up until this morning I would have said yes, but somehow I now have an uneasy feeling when we are to play others like Hull and believe it or not, Southampton. Suddenly I do not feel as confident.

Disappointed with the outcome.
1. Too much profit taking.
2. Not signed a goal scoring left winger/striker.

Pleased we reduced the squad size and wage bill.

Yes I know we have mproved the squad, but so has almost every other side. We will struggle against Everton our peers. ManU will improve as year progresses and we will have to top of our game to beat the likes of Soton, newcastle and Swansea.

I'm not too happy but I feel it's time for our youngers to step up anyway, kinda tired of us throwing money at the situation when we have a academy full of players who can play in the premier league and will play with Dawson mentality.

yes.

we improved the defense which was the biggest liability, and we sold players who had little impact on our squad last year - a team that netted 69 points.

you cant compare our activity to our rivals, or at least you shouldnt. Our we worse than last season? Absolutely not, and probably stronger on paper.

I think you have to reserve judgement about players who come in because even if you think you know their strengths and weaknesses there is always the intangible: how will they fit our club.

I'm less than ecstatic with the outgoings though. While it is clear that Dawson wouldn't fit our system you need leaders and 'character' players in a squad, so he will be a loss. Similarly with Sandro, whose sale I am very upset with. I can only assume that his injury record was a factor and/or that Stambouli will be a considerable upgrade, because while I have been impressed with Capoue I'm not sure that he's better than Sandro. Holtby, too, is a head-scratcher. He's versatile, works hard and has an eye for a pass. I'm sure he could have been retained as a valuable squad player.

Lennon has received a lot of criticism in this thread, but he always puts in a shift and is valuable defensively as well as in attack, so I'm pleased he's still here. Townsend, on the other hand, appears to be next to useless and if we could've unloaded him then we should have. He may be better on the left wing than playing in an 'inverted' role, but I've seen absolutely nothing to justify keeping him in the games that he's played for us.

One other sale, albeit not from the first team squad, that seems to have fallen under the radar. Coulibaly, like Obika, has gone, so that's one fewer potential striker coming through the ranks.

If we are still in EL & top4 race in January, I hope we prioritize 3 signings

i) Schneiderlin
ii) Rodriguez
iii) Depay

and shift out 3 players who haven't performed. But given its Jan window, I would be surprised if we sign one in this.

very disappointed, linked with a lot of players who would have imo significantly improved our prospects but have only landed second or third choices. this disappointment is of course magnified by the gulf in class between us and the genuine contenders for honours which was glaringly evident on sunday. even our mediocre teams down the years have had a hero, but of this crop I can no longer feel confident of lamela or eriksen filling the void. id like to see transparency in our stadium plan, want reassurance that the tv money unspent on the playing side will ensure no further delays in construction.

Overall, yes. In my view we have strengthened, although we have lost several fan favourites at the same time.

The point is to create a squad capable of playing the way the manager wants. If some players aren't able to then they have to go - and they have.

Would have been nice to add another striker but 6m loan or 12m loan fee or 16m for a nutcase and a non-scoring striker is best left alone in our situation. We are pretty strong still.

All in all, yes.

A bit down that we didn't get that striker and LWF, but it is what it is. I reckon we're better off now than before the summer started. Trimmed the squad a bit and added some talent.

Not really as we still have on our books 2 wingers who provide the square root of fuck all in Andros & Lennon. Both should have been moved on and a winger brought in who actually has a end product.

In the striking department we still look short and are heavily reliant on a erratic Ade.

The manager it seems has also failed to bring in his number 1 choices and had to settle for 2nd or 3rd best. Nothing new there really at our club....

I think most fans realise that we've signed decent players, but not players who will make us complete for top 4.

We still have the likes of Kaboul, Lennon, Townsend in the squad, all whom have shown they are not capable of adding anything going forward.

Biggest disappointment is not adding the players who Poch wanted and needed. We acted too slow with Saints for MS and Poch. Mussachio also a deal we should have done.

Still we move on. We've been here before, a decent squad but not one that will challenge for honours or top 4 this season unless Poch can work miracles. Perhaps Jan will give us a better clue as to the squad.

Trying to look on the bright side; we had three main targets in 1) the moustache, 2) Morgan and 3) Rodriguez and we didn't get any of them. But we did get our second choice for two of those roles in Fazio and Benji and even if Rodriguez had come he is still in rehabilitation so wouldn't have contributes for a while. In fact, I'd be surprised if we didn't go back in for Rodriguez at Christmas.

Aside from the managers targets Vorm and Davies filled big holes in the squad, Died is already exceeding expectations considering his fee and age and I'm excites to see Yedlins pace (and I still think we could end up seeing him earlier than next season).

Anyway, the biggest signing was definately the new manager and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with the players he has at his disposal.
