I've got to say that I moaned about the new format at first but I'm coming round.

It makes it somehow seem like there's less ITK though ??? or is it just that there is ? (less that is, since the new format) ?

Much less fun, the banter was a great part of this site, and the new system has lost it. Spurs community is begining to take itself too seriously

aye, maybe you're right old boy - I don't like change, set in my ways see.

As it's not going to change this window might as well just go with it, may well grow on us all

I way preferred the old system. The whole point was that those who wanted to see who was coming in or going out could take a quick peek in, get the info, then get back to what they were doing. Now, it is too much like hard work trying to figure out if you have read something before or not. It's just not as easy to use.

I know the lads on the site do a triffic job and are always looking to improve the site. But for me, one of the highlights of the site was the banter / discussion and anticipation of scouring through information / opinions and ITK in the daily discussion thread.

I miss it personally.

I miss it too. I liked it the old way !!

Sorry, I don't mean to be ungrateful to all of you that do so much to keep the site running, just my opinion.

What part of "ITK wasn't making it to the Read-only because it was lost in the spam" are people failing to understand?

Come up with a solution that works and we'll listen.

another possible reason i can think why it's less enjoyable is there more threads there are the less people will have the chance to see your comments. We all like to be heard. You pay less attention to the comments in each thread when they are all spread out and you dont know which one to post in to get the most audience.

I think the new way for ITK is pretty good actually apart from a thread going bold when someone has commented.

I personally hated trawling through pages of debate about all sorts other than the itk that was in the thread, so I can only imagine how the mods felt.

The one plus point I really like about it now is all the comments relating to that specific itk are in one specific thread where as before you could have 4 itk updates and someone comments on something about the first piece of itk and it can sometimes get confusing.

For me, with all the positives about the new way I can forgive the threads coming up in bold when a new post is made as overall its not a major deal.

What we all have to remember is that the mods on this site have a difficult job where they have to try and please all the users which is an impossible task.

If the majority like it as it is then keep it but if not people should try and come up with suggestions to improve other than just openly criticise.

At the end of the day it has been changed to try and make the itk section of this site to run that little bit smoother.

maybe we could have a poll and see what the mass really think?

I think all that needed to be changed was a regular update of the ITK Read-Only Thread.

The Daily Discussion Thread is the same as Transfer Talk with a different name. I also agree that its akward when looking at the Read-Only to see things in bold that aren't new.

I preferred the old way, but if that poll showed nothing else it showed that there simply is no perfect solution.

I'd humbly contend the old way was easier for users and a whole bunch more fun, but the new way is easier for the chaps in charge.

It's an understandable change and I can see its merits. But, for me, we lost more than we gained.

I liked the old discussion thread and all the nonsense in it, but again I can see how it would drive mods spanner.

And I accept that saying all this while offering precisely no solutions is a swiz. Sorry.

maybe have:

[update 123] with the locked itk and at the bottom a link to a thread where you can discuss it?

[discuss 123] etc...

thoughts?

That's more or less how it works anyway. Except now post one is the ITK and the rest is discussing it.

I prefer the new system, it's very well organised.

I appreciate any changes would have been made after carefull consideration by the mods..................but for me it was better in the old format.

It did catch me out when I saw that people were now able to comment on the individual ITK threads and seems kinda odd to me as means you can have two threads debating the same play, one in the ITK forum and another in the transfer rumour one.

The forum style is not going to change again during this window. I personally find it much easier to keep track of things with the new style. On thread per piece of ITK seems like a very simple way of doing things so I'm not sure where any confusion is coming from. It's not that hard to find out whether you've already read a piece of ITK or not, all the threads are numbered and have appropriate titles. The one thing I'll accept is that the threads seem quieter than the single ITK discussion thread but it's debatable whether this is a good or a bad thing as a considerable numer of posts in the single ITK discussion thread would be considered spam by many people. You can't please all of the people all if the time. At the end of this windows we'll assess how we think the different ways of structuring and modding the forum have gone and decide how we'll manage it in January.

In all honesty, it doesn't matter if you find it easier to use as you aren't really the end user or target market. You should listen to your client-base.

That said, I personally preferred the older style but I'm making due with the new format. I agree with the others in that it's hard to tell when there's new ITK and I miss the sense of "community" that came with the single ITK discussion thread. I see advantages of both ways and I don't want to complain too much, but I think it's important to weigh your users' opinions along with whatever behind-the-scenes concerns you need to worry about.

Cheers and COYS!

I've never been sure why an ITK discussion thread is needed?

People pm the info to the mods / rumour rangers / admin people and they put if in a read-only thread in the ITK forum.

Then the player we're being linked to can be discussed in the individual threads in the transfer rumour forum no?

People can then discuss to their hearts content "wahey we've been linked to this player and if we get him this is how I want to line the team up".

Why not just include the date in the ITK title?

Then it's obvious what is new.
