Getting slightly frustrated with our ITK! Can someone give me some advice on who to listen to on there? I have heard so much shit on there this week and am desperate to know who to believe and who not to believe? Thanks

Take it all with a pinch of salt, same as you would if you read something in the paper, most of it is passed on in good faith, not all of it turns out to be correct.

And wear a condom, or something, just in case.

Personally I keep any eye on what POTL and Valencia Yid have to say.

Always carry your salt so in the end there is no need to get exasperated. Its exciting but dont take any of it as gospel as circumstances can change very quickly in this business.

Roger Morgan called Phil Neville before anybody possibly could have predicted Harry wanted him. He is 100% ITK

I believe there is a itk track record thread, where you can see all the correct information that was given. Not sure if it still exists, but have a look.

Personally i think they all are hit and miss, things change all the time, so thats not to suggest that the itk wasn't correct at one point in time. Roger Morgan, Archibald and ValanciaYid seem to be the most accurate IIRC. But they are all fallible in this itk world!

I think there is a thread somewhere on this site that outlines the itk track record. Someone more clevererer than me should be able to post a link to it.

As a rule I generally have a lot of time for Valencia Yid...though as I understand it his connections aren't quite as prominent as they used to be..however he's one to be trusted, and if he makes a bold statement it invariably proves to be true.

I can appreciate the frustration with the itk, however there are three things to bear in mind (as far as I can see):

1) Some of it will certainly be true.

2) Some of it will be true as far as the person passing on the info is concerned (though they may be optimistic/pessimistic in their personal interpretation, or given deliberately incorrect info).

3) It's all part of the charm of the transfer rumour merry-go-round (and by merry-go-round I am obviously referring to the circus. CIRCUS? MEDIA CIRCUS? YAY BECKS HAS SIGNED....).

I would try not to get too caught up in it. Many seem to equate itk info with being a promise that such and such a signing is nailed on to happen. Obviously this isn't the case, and 99% of the time it is purely an insight into the (possible) workings going on behind the scene. The Suarez saga for example...if we don't sign him it certainly doesn't mean the itk suggesting we are/were interested has been proved wrong.

Similarly, in the summer we had one itk convinced by his source (insert HP, Brown sauce, Heinz joke here) that Fabiano would be signing. Subsequent info has shown that we were indeed close to signing him, but perhaps in this case this itk's source got a bit too confident...hence the much maligned but nevertheless true maxim...take with a pinch of salt.

He didn't, RM called it in January, but ebspurs had said about the link with Neville in December. But it was before we had opened the SCITK forum so never made it across here from COYS.

But RM is one to look out for though

I'd add as a warning...tread carefully lest you end up like the beast of Spurscommunity that answers to the name of Fazza.

This poor soul got so bewitched by the growing itk surrounding the potential signing of Arshavin that he eventually went feral. He spent a year pretending he could speak Russian, and doing the cossack dance in front of a mirror whilst wearing the full Tottenham kit (Arshfazzain emblazoned on the back).

I hear that he currently resides in the basement of Mod Towers...fed on scraps of debatable itk, and occasionally allowed out to comment on the wrestling.

Well, first of all: it's not the ITK who're calling the shoot, they're not the one signing players or trying to set up deals; all they do is pass on info about possible deals about players Spurs are after.
And even if Spurs are actively pursuing and player, putting in an concrete offer, it doesn't mean Spurs will get that player.
Of course, not all ITK is genuine, but whether they're right or wrong it's not going to affect whether Spurs will sign a player or not.

Ahhh, that explains why I didn't know about it then! fair play to ebspurs. It's always much more convincing when an itk comes out with a name before it hits the press

The question posed is exactly why the ITK discussion thread exists.
