It's an old nickname. The press were saying that we had the most talented squad for ages and branded it the Golden generation. the fact that they won fuck all (and they were not as good as the euro 96 squad) doesn't change the nickname?

Gerrard has been playing well of late could well he might be back to his old self come the Euros, he will be captain IMO. it will be his final chance at a bit tourny.

Someone like Parker doesnt need the armband, will lead by example anyway.

I'd give it to a younger player to encourage them to step up to the plate and be a leader, plus they will be there for the long-term.

Problem is not too many who you can say are reasonably assured of their places, I'd say Hart but he seems very vocal already and you dot really want to give the captaincy to the goalie. Cant believe I'm saying this but when he is back fit I'd give it to Wilshere, maybe he would grow up a bit with the additional spotlight of being England Captain.

Edit: Forgot about Jones :doh: He would be near the top of my list, but can he nail down a regular place and position first.
