Bayern Munich Keeping Tabs On 'Croatian Messi' Mateo Kovacic

According to a report in Jutarnji, reigning German champions Bayern Munich are closely monitoring the progress of highly rated youngster Mateo Kovacic, currently under contract with Croatian titans Dinamo Zagreb.

The 16-year-old attacking midfielder is considered to be one of the most promising youngsters around in Europe in his age category and he's already been labelled 'the Croatian Messi' by some. Kovacic is keeping his feet grounded though and has downplayed expectations.

"I'm always getting a bit shy when people compare me to Lionel Messi. I don't even have ten percent of the talent he has," was Kovacic quoted as saying by reporters.

Kovacic was born in Linz, Austria, but has been living in Croatia for years. He has represented Croatia at under-17 level. The versatile attacking midfielder has yet to make his official first team debut at Dinamo, but was recently promoted to the senior side following a string of impressive performance at yout level.

Bayern Munich are not the only team that are keeping tabs on the youngster. Clubs such as Ajax, Juventus, Inter and Stuttgart are also believed to be interested in Kovacic.

I've read alot about this guy and talked with one friend from Serbia whos a professional scout in the area of former Yugoslavia. He told me that this guy is for some years now the biggest talent down there. He rates him much much higher than Modric was rated at that age. With our good connection to Dinamo surely our scouts would have a close eye on this one. We surely dont need him now but in 3-5 years when hes 19-21, who know what players are still at the club and what we need.

im sure every top club, and even smaller ones like citeh and liverpool, know about players like him around europe alright. as you said we have a good link with zagreb and with our three croats at the club we can offer a player from that region a support network. only problem is who knows how long we'll have that network there so be good to try get him over asap especially if that level of club, bayern, are after him

Romelu Lukaku

Tottenham will consider making a renewed offer for Anderlecht's teenage striker Romelu Lukaku after a £17.5m bid was rejected in the summer.

Apparently they haven't bought him now... ... I'm not believing anything until I see the stamp :snooty:

I know the kid's top scorer in Belgium at 17 and yada yada yada, but they rejected 17.5m? That seems very unlikely to me.

Both a bit tubby, but both Charlie Adam and Gary Taylor-Fletcher really impressed me v City, especially Taylor-Fletcher. There's something Gary McAllister about him, he seems to have that combination of drive and leadership, but also skill and passing, and he also seems a goal threat.

Watching Inter the other day, they had a kid called Coutinho, has spent 18 months on loan at Vasco (I think) and has already earned one full brazil cap. He's only 18, slightly built, I reckon around 5'7" but has great poise and balance.

The fact he's at Inter means there's no chance of us getting him but he certainly seems to have a bright future. Especially as Benitez allegedly called him "the future of Inter".

Villa are being linked with Gervinho today. Hope this doesn't happen.

Javier Pastore and Hernanes are making Serie A worth watching again. Incredible talents.

I've run out of superlatives to describe Nuri Sahin this season. He hasn't had a poor game so far.

Pastore scored this beauty against Bologna

Sahin scored a crucial late winner at Koln (offside btw) and the whole incident with him and Podolski made me lol

Saw both the Pastore goal and the Podolski incident. Great hit from Pastore, I don't know a lot about him though.

Nuri Sahin has been one of the main reasons for Dortmund's good start, and he's been promising this type of form for a while. His name has been branded around for a few years, as he made his debut very young IIRC. Also, he's had quite a few caps for the Turkish national team already and he's only 22 I think.

After watching Bayern vs Cluj today i must admit Traore actually looks really good. Was especially impressed with his pace as you wouldnt expect it due to his height. Its just one game so far but i think he would be an improvement on Crouch for reasonably little money.

Not sure if he has been mentioned before but Jordan Henderson of Sunderland looks like a great prospect.

He's been excellent since getting a run of games early last season. He was MOTM at the Lane last season when Sundlund were mighty unlucky to lose.

Didn't I read on here that United had him as a done deal in January? I could believe it if Rodwell is too expensive.

jelle vossen (21) and marvin ogunjimi (23) both from racing genk (leading the belgian league currently, anderlecht and standard are trailing by 5 and 6 points).

jelle vossen is apparently monitored already by everton and villa while ogunjimi scored 2 goals on his debut for the belgium nt, he now has 3 goals in their last 2 games.

Rumoured to be signed and sealed by United, but shall see. Thought he looked
good last season, but he's come on leaps and bounds this year.

Saw a clip of him and thought he's only similar to Crouch in appearance but is stronger and faster
