"Scouts advised me not to buy Suarez" says Harry (from Guardian)

It would be nice if Harry accepted some of the blame for once, so far today we have had its Bale and VdV's fault for getting injured, then its the scouts faults for not getting in a striker, and to top it all now he says it the fans fault and we are idiots for apparently having unrealistic expectations of winning more than 1 game in the last 15 of the season when we were 3rd in the league and had the bottom five all to play.

All his quotes today have pissed me off no end :bang:

tbf he didn't actually say that, the headline did

He didn't say it verbatim but it's pretty clear that that's what he's getting it

"We kept looking at [Suárez] but people thought he couldn't play up as a striker," said Redknapp.

"They said he's like Rafa [van der Vaart] and you can't have him and Rafa or you'd have two players who want to drop deep, so that was the problem. We were looking for someone to play up front with Rafa. People said he couldn't do that, he drifts and comes deep. But he played up front on his own the other night [against Fulham on Monday] and he was fantastic."

Note where he says 'we' and where he says 'they'. Spineless.

To be fair to Harry I can see why he didn't go for Suarez if he wasn't 100% sure as neither was I and everything is better with the benefit of hindsight but that still doesn't excuse his mission to generally talk bollocks about how great this season is and anyone who disagrees is an idiot.

Honestly, If Harry could just have a bit of humility and admit that although we had some great highlights this season, it still didn't pan out the way he would of liked and that he could of done better then fair enough but he's like bloody Teflon - nothing seems to stick to him and its never his fault!

I actually don't know what annoys me more:

1) The fact that he is blaming the scouts. Which either shows he doesn't/wont use his own judgement to make the final say on a player he buys, or he won't admit when he made a mistake not going for a player and passes the blame.

2) He tells the media all this a few days before a big game against Suarez. A game which SHOULD be important to him to take 5th place from Liverpool. It either shows he is utterly naive when making comments that will motivate the opposition, or he fully knows what his comments will do and he does indeed not want Europa football next year.

Unreal really.

Absolutely. But why does he always refuse responsibility for a mistake?

It's nonsense to suggest that Rafa and Suarez can't play together.

He is worried about him dropping too deep, why not instruct him to not drop deep, give him and others a clear defined role.

all his quotes today seem to be that of a desperate man...

a man of so many years in football with all due respect should not have to rely on the opinion of ANY scout regards a player like luis suarez.......sandro yes, suarez, the whole world knew how good he was & how good he could be!

to blame scouts for suarez is just pathetic...he simply could not make up his mind as i was saying all along...

levy would have sanctioned the deal, we had the club secretary out there & we had other people in spain just waiting for him to make up his mind....

hes just not good enough, his constant pass the buck quotes are a disgrace for somone who is supposed to be "great" with people...

& as for how much esteem he holds for the millions of spurs fans out there.....well...makes me sick people still back him!.....read what he thinks about you & your club FFS!!

Who remembers Redknapp's DOF quote "I don't want my job depending of someone else's purchases".

Fuck, haven't got a DOF, now who can I blame ?

Yes, we need a hold up uber striker, but we also need a striker who does exactly what Suarez does. Which is presumably why Redknapp kept playing Pav and Defoe for the last 3 months up front and VDV on the right wing.

It's not even a question of whether he would have been a good buy or not. Either say you made a mistake or stick to your guns. Just don't shove the blame at someone else's doorstep. It's pathetic.

Behave mate, You know as well as I know, that half the shit you spout is utter codswollop, so Pot and Kettle certainly comes to mind.

I need to make it clear again....Harry was certain, he wanted Carroll. He didnt get him.

there was paralels in that, which mirrored the Joe Cole saga. Hey presto, Levy came up trumps with a deadline day surprise, VDV.

Unfourtunately this time round Levy and co didnt pull out the rabbit did they, thats what the Spanish trip was really all about. another gift.

If they wanted to get a player from spain then why not sign Forlan, the one Harry went to watch? because he doesnt fit the mould, like Neville didnt.

I am not for one second defending harrys targets, personally I think he got some wrong, but I am in a position to defend his movements and actions during the transfer window.

Harry wanted Carroll....nothing indesisive about that
Harry wanted Neville....nothing indesisive about that either
Harry wanted Parker...nothing indesisive there!

Harry wants Lukaku now, and he fits the Levy type of signing. I wonder if he'll get him?

Suarez was always versatile, I still cant understand why we couldn't determine he would have the ability to be a significant upgrade on Defoe....ok only similar in height, but for someone who had the tenacity, guile, movement, intelligence and qaulity as such it shouldn't of been rocket science to Harry or our scouts that he could of played ahead of VDV....like Harry tried with Defoe for the first time at Villa 5 days before the window flipping opened.

This from Peanut on COYS re Redknapp on Suarez:

Harry Redknapp speaking about Suarez on Jan 7, 2011

"I would doubt very much that anything will happen there. I've watched him loads of times; he's not an out-and-out striker but he could play anywhere."

Your anti Harry agenda is a bit pathetic adie. It's been going on for a while now. I bet you were even pleased that we've had a poor run so you could stick the knife in.
