Not sure whether to be happy that the club is not scouting for the overcrowded CM position, or to be sad because this kid won't have one influencing game for Spurs the first season (if he signs).
Happy that Lamela gets a bud, though.

On Twitter he follows Bale, Balotelli, Özil as well as anything with eyes the colour of chestnuts and two boobs.
Point with this is, who is Bale?
There is also two accounts, one which follows Lamela (one you're talking about I think) and another which is retweeting news about us and him

seems to like the attention of being linked! Bring it on then!
Maybe worth 100m in 4 years when Real come calling!

He's the next big thing of River. It would take 15m+, and I don't see Levy paying that for a kid with only 2 caps in the first team

Lamela is doing some pre season training at River isn't he? you'd think he'd be able to talk to him :D

I think there's no one from River training right now. They are on holidays. The first team and the academy players.

I know nothing about this kid.....but i did notice that the Mirror exclaimed that he was "dazzling at River Plate".....he has played 2 times for the senior side (both as a sub in a cup match) for what looks like a total of 20min or so is he really "dazzling at River Plate"?

That said, i have no idea how he looked with the youth side (sounds as if he could be another one of the River Plate phenoms) but seems like he has played very well with the Argie U17 squad and clearly he has some hype surrounding him....not opposed to bringing in youth at all but I genuinely have no idea where this kid falls on the spectrum of young prospects.

Maybe not but even if he was to cost that it would be payed in installments with clauses along the way!
E.g. Number of appearances and other variables...
So even an upfront fee anywhere up to 4/5 million is worth the gamble?

''Lamela will work with fitness coaches in his homeland who will be in constant touch with Tottenham staff. He is also planning to take part in football training with River Plate, his former club.

The club's youth teams train for part of the summer and Lamela is due to link up with them to prepare for next season.''

That was from the Telegraph, gives the impression that the youngsters do extra training over summer maybe..?

An offer of that amount would not be accepted. Even if it has clauses

Ossie85 - that's two first team appearances isn't it. I take your point but....

If the link is genuine, that presumably means:

1) our scouting network has been watching Driussi in youth football;

Or

2) perhaps more likely, Poch's contacts are telling him that Driussi is a genuine talent.

If these are contacts that Poch trusts - ie really good judges of a player rather than agents trying to make big bucks - then Levy may decide to see if a deal can be done. We were apparently prepared to pay big money for young Alen Halilovic.

I'd be fine with Levy trying to do a deal if Driussi is the real thing. But history shows that for every Modric-style deal, we've had a Leandro Damiao or Arshavin brinkmanship saga. So - as per your original post - a Levy-style deal may not be possible and I agree that - for an 18-year-old he would want to load any transfer fee with conditional clauses.....

With structured payments I don't think a fee like that would be a problem even for us. Levy knows that even after 1 season all the best talents are hoovered up by the likes of Porto and Chelsea, so we've got to gamble a bit on a player's potential.
