I enjoyed watching Ade and Defoe play up-front together. With injuries in midfield and Defoe on good goalscoring form 442 might be our most effective formation for now.

Me too. That was proper striker play from both of them. Ade looked like he couldn't be bothered half the time but that disguises just how much he brought to the team and Defoe in particular. It's all very well having a languid slow stylish player like Ade holding the ball up, but you need players to feed off him and more importantly you need players who take the chances. Defoe linked up really well today and that is by far and away my most pleasing display this season.

So that's right lets rely on Sig and Dempsey because they've done so much more, and showed they're indispensable..

It just goes to show that when buying players 9 and 10 you really do need to get the match up right, now all we need is a player that can rotate with both of them, Rooney? il get me coat.........

So you'd ignore the best performance (I'd say since AVB took over) and play a currently ineffective Dempsey because he scored against Utd. Can't say that would be my choice. I'd play Ade in Dempsey's role as he fully deserves to start, as does Defoe. Ade and Defoe look dangerous. I realise it was 'only' Maribor but to me we were desperately after a performance and that was the first sign of one this season.

It's a numbers game. Playing 4-4-2 against decent sides is like playing with 10 men.

Even tonight there was a notciably big gap between our midfield and attack that stopped us really imposing ourselves on the game.
