Newys Cefn Druids v Tiverton Town
Melchester Rovers v Goole Town

...or something.

What a Mickey Mouse Cup. The Carling Cup is clearly more important to the big boys these days and is where its at.

They were just saying on 5Live that if Cardiff won the Cup they wouldn't be eligible for the UEFA Cup, because they can't represent England!

How bizarre!

Really. Apparently they're ruled by the Welsh FA and can only qualify to represent Wales through the Welsh Cup.

How funny! That sort of makes me want them to win it..............but then again there fans are t*ats so maybe not

This came up the other day - i thought that, as Cardiff play in a league run by the FA, they are governed by the FA's rules and conditions and therefore can qualify

Do they even answer directly to the Welsh FA anymore?

they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. the club are answerable to both the FA and FAW.

they cant qualify through winning the FA cup, League Cup or League position should they be in the Premiership. Also to make matters worse the cup in Wales that the are allowed/have to compete in, no longer carries a European place as Cardiff/Swansea/Wrexham always won it, not given League of Wales clubs a sniff.

I think the only answer would be for cardiff to be affiliated to the FA, but would have to start from scratch.

bit silly really i thinks anyway. if they win they should be allowed to go into europe.

I can see why the rule stands - nothing to stop a team that fails in one league moving to a nearby league (say, for example, Newcastle moving to the Scottish Prem) because there's a higher chance of them getting better results and the FA have probably put it in place to stop just that kind of ship-jumping, but how many clubs are there that play in a league outside of their own country?? Can't be many other than the odd provincial town dotted around Europe, the three you mentioned and... Berwick? Guess they count for the time being.
