I empathise with both of you but, short of rape or murder, I like to think that most atrocities committed at a young age can be learned from and the individual concerned rehabilitated. Maybe I'm too optimistic / naive but I have faith that if we're signing him then we've done our homework on his mindset in full, especially given who our manager is.

I think you're right, although I agree with @Larryjanta about Aurier's lack of contrition being a bit of a cause for concern.

But I certainly agree that we'll have gone into this deal with our eyes wide open having done our research. That for me is enough to reduce my concerns.

Certainly a player you would rather play with than against.
I assume this is one of the Hitchen specials we have heard about; I'm delighted if it comes off.

Did Aurier not apologise for what he said in that video? It seemed (from what I saw) that he apologised for insulting his colleagues, although not exactly for what he said about them, which is admittedly a bit of a concern.

I'd hope he's learnt the error of his ways and, on a practical note, I'd imagine there's all sorts of good behaviour clauses in his contract, same as there are for practically any job nowadays.

We've had ITK that we had a bid for an experienced south american rejected earlier in the window, now we've had itk that were revisiting a deal that we thought was off. Would'nt be surprised in the least if Pastore is our Barkley backup

The court decision was what was previously kept secret wasn't it? We must have discovered this a good week or so ago hence going forward with the deal.

Also extracting the relevant paperwork from the French legal system, which would have been critical for the Home Office submission.

Probably the wrong place for it but does anyone think Kyle W-P would be an option as a winger? If not - I assume he will go out on loan

Rumours that Jose has turned up at Hotspur Way with a fishing rod and a KFC wanting to speak to Serge!

Seriously though, this could be a great signing, an immensely talented player. the lad clearly has had some issues in the past but it's probably those issues that mean a player of his calibre is available to Spurs (as opposed to going to an elite club) similar to Suarez when he signed for Pool.

Let's not get too carried away - surely if we were trying for another player at PSG then L'equipe (who have been pretty much on the money with the Aurier deal) would have reported it, no?

Yep anything else to do with PSG is just speculation at this stage.

The vultures will be circling for their players generally in the next couple of days so we'll have a lot of competition for their players, and that's even if we are interested in any of them.

Lequipe are notoriously poor for PSG info, just ask Verratti, who is currently sueing them

Disagree - it's entirely the right time to post it.

As long as he addresses it and shows contrition, so am I but there's been zero sign up until now. And neg repping is fine

Interesting, thanks

It's more the signal it sends out for me that we don't care what someone has done if they're a good player. Like I say, if there was even a sign he regretted his actions, I'd feel very differently

For me, you have to earn the right to a second chance, can't just be given it but appreciate your thoughts

Sounds like we should be packing him off to a remote monastery in a hessian robe to recite from the scriptures for a few months whilst living on gruel.
