I don't like what this lad has done in the past at all and would have concerns if he signs. Having said that - he is a very talented player that would undoubtedly improve our squad fairly significantly in a position we need. If we sign him I'm prepared to give him a clean slate and support him to the hilt but he would need to behave and be ultra professional.
What has lad done so wrong?

He was younger than he is now and he basically called someone a fag and suggested favouritism via sexual favours. I think it's just immaturity and ignorance rather than outright homophobia and hopefully he's learned his lesson by the reaction.

It was last year.

I don't know about this guy but he sounds a great player but with a questionable (to put it lightly) character. You could say the same about Suarez though but he has been a lot better behaved at Barca. Maybe he just needs a change of scene to sort himself out. If anyone can get him in line it's Poch.
Poch will clean up his act. People need to focus on his attributes and stop poisoning his transfer.

Let him get here; let poch help him mature turn him into a man and develop his potential in all regards.

Now, can we get back to talking about how hench our back line will be, please. If we get this guy, along with Sanchez, teams are gonna look at us and shit themselves even more than they do now.

Remember: Vic and Dembele will be in front of them as well.

Insane power.

If we get him we will have probably the strongest defence in the Premiership and one of the best in world football. It is potentially that good.

Whilst being facetious, it's not irrelevant is it? Wrongly, and I'd like to make that very clear. There are still some offensive terms that aren't meant to be taken as a complete hatred of the people in question. It's an archaic way of thinking but its a part of everyday conversation (again, that doesn't make it right).

Without trying to make this thread something it isn't, and at the risk of wrongly outing myself (ironically) as a massive homophobe... Have you never called someone a name in a throwaway comment, that isn't a slight on anyone in particular? An example may be "oh get on with it ya big poof".

If so then I applaud you mate, you're clearly a better person than I.

Of course his had a more malicious tone, but that's not to mean the theory behind it isn't the same.

I'd rather we moved on, if he could do something to interact with the relevant groups etc for example, whilst also performing on the pitch then everyone is a winner.

Poofter eh?

Because we love our club and respect all our fellow Spurs fans which includes everybody - all sexuality and all sexes. Why wouldn't we be concerned about that?
Turn it off, guys. Please.

Fuck sake.

Let's give the guy a clean slate and put aside the fact that we here on SC are all pure of heart and sainted...just long enough for him to maybe mature a little and learn from his mistakes. Ok?

I understand that if you're holding Rose's media outburst against him.

But if you're saying that Davies is a better FB or WB than Rose you"ll be wrong.

They are miles apart.

Attitude on a team is all important. A strong, focussed group can achieve beyond expectations. One bad apple can poison the barrel. One of the great strengths of the present team is its cohesive nature. If Rose is unsettled (and stupid enough to give a damning interview just before the season starts) then that could turn into a slow poison that could impact one after another in the squad.

Rose may very well be a wart that should be removed.

I think he will work out very well. Let's to some blue sky thingking: Aurier, Trippier, Sanchez, Foyth, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Rose, Carter-Vickers and Walker-Peters. What a crazy defence.

Russia passed an anti gay law recently and Fifa has decided to continue holding a WC there. I'm assuming England are not going to boycott the tournament either. This guy makes one comment and there's people wanting to hang him.
I gather that they endorse a spot of wife-beating over there, and I know that the old homophobia is a touch rampant, too, but what's this about an anti-gay law?

I agree - clean slate if he comes.
