Well 3 games in and

There is no excuse for these tactics though.

It really is schoolboy tactics.

So far his management of this team has been nothing short of shocking,

I'll give him time though, mainly because I have no choice.

The catastrophic collapse of this club. Unbelievable.

Agree with this. If you've had no time with players in training you don't make massive changes but tweak little things. The players are being instructed to do the opposite to what AVB told them with no time to work on things. It's like in his interview after West Ham when he said the players weren't fit enough to maintain intensity for 90 mins in a 4-4-2 - surely if he thought that it's enough reason not to play a 4-4-2? Ridiculous!!

He's a Gooner.

If you were given the head coach/manager role at Woolwich, would you aim to build bigger and better things or make sure they crash and die?

I'm prepared to give Sherwood his chance and I'll have a better idea of what he's really about by 7.20pm on 5th January.

3 games into his tenure in lttle over a week and a half is way too early to be calling for his head.

For those that do and have nailed their colours ...... let's go back to boxing day 1958 .... we've just been beaten 4-1 by West Ham at home, we've won once in our last 11 games - a run which also includes a 1-5 at Man City and a 0-4 at home to Birmingham. This is a side that had finished the previous season in 3rd but would be fortunate to escape relegation by finishing 18th. A season in which we changed our manager after 11 league games and promoted a guy with absolutely zero managerial experience.

I dare say so many here would have been calling for that man's head too!

It is fortunate that unless they were in the 60,000 or so that actually went to White Hart Lane that they had no voice!

I was at the Lane today, just as I have been at every game in the U.K. this season. I heard no anti-Sherwood murmurings, there was nothing but solid support for the team.

Sherwood will have his opportunity to show us whether he can do more than just talk a good game and no doubt the Board will re-assess come the end of the season.

For now though, give the fellah a break ..... unless you think you can do better.

I mean you lot talk it up as if being undefeated out of playing Southampton and West Brom is a great achievement.

I say 4 points out of those 2 games is poor!

I warned you lot after I saw the tactical mess in the cup match. No one listened.we better hope he is less stubborn than AVB because playing a front 6 and just hoping we score more goals than the opposition will put us into a relegation battle.

Win against Soton was win against top 9 side, first one this season. AVB failed at every hurdle.

I'm missing something here - bearing in mind our injuries, what was so wrong with his team or the formation?

We had WBA on the rack for the last 25 mins and we played a decent pressing game the whole match. The fact that Dawson and Vlad play like bambis on ice is not down to TS - they were doing that before!

What has TS done wrong so far?

Bambi on ice is one way of putting it. How many times in first half were they exposed by WBA players picking ball up in midfield areas and running at/playing balls through the back 4? This was down to having no DCM player on the pitch yet one was on the bench - Capoue!

Had we have had protection in front of back 4, their attacking play could have been nullified more effectively whilst also allowing us to turn over possession more effectively and "get on the front foot" as Tim says.

Our back 4 struggle as it us at the moment and were struggling with having 2 DCMs protecting (sometimes). Leaving them exposed is ridiculous especially Dawson who has no pace. Against a decent side today the game would have been out of sight by half time based in the attacking opportunities WBA had. Too many fans are blinkered by the Saints and today's results. Southampton were poor by their standards and were missing some quality players too. WBA are not a good side either, and are on a poor run themselves.

Time will tell but based on the 3 games Tim has been in charge of I haven't seen anything to say he has improved on what AVB done or would have done. In fact, I'm almost certain we would have beaten West Ham in the cup and got at least the same 4 points under him as what we have now. We have not improved since sacking him & that's supposed to be the pint if replacing managers!

yes and we hear you, 4 points from a possible 6 is end of the world to you and many other SC posters today,... message received (y)

I never wrote 4 from 6 points was a great achievment,... but it is not the end of the world either :pompous:
I am poking fun at all the doomsday folks who want to slit their wrists over Sherwood's appointment, so I point out he's undefeated in the prem so far,.. which is fact, not an emotional response.

you say that's poor and I say everyone is over-reacting at this VERY early stage,... we are clear on each others' opinions. :wacky:

COYS!!! :jimlad:

So because AVB failed, Sherwood is immune to criticism? I struggle to understand where you're going with these posts because they make no sense. I'm reserving judgement for the end of this season but what Timmy has shown so far leaves me with the impression that he's out of his depth. That's not the same as saying AVB was a much better manager.

Tactics are hardly the be all end all, we have had tactical masters in Ramos and AVB and we fared no better, more worryingly with Sherwood is the simple things like passing a football. But running around a bit at break neck speed is apparently exciting.

You had a pop at AVB at every opportunity. You'll forgive some of us if we don't share your passion for Sherwoods brand of exciting football.

My god, I feel retardation hitting in after reading some threads today. Every thread contains exchanges along this pattern:

Poster 1: Sherwood has set the team out in a very naive fashion in all his three games in charge. A weakened West Ham team created more than us at the Lane, we won against a Soton side that hadn't won in six games and were missing players, and today WBA created more against us at the Lane. I'm worried.

Poster 2: But it's better than losing 0-3 against West Ham!!!!!11111oneone
