I thought he didn't join us because he was specifically wanted the Man U job and waited for it. It had nothing to do with us messing it up or anything.
I thought that was the case too. Managing a very big, albeit then underachieving club would have been a big temptation.

they played Sporting in a friendly and on the flight back some of the players were talking about Ronaldo, said he was amazing, so they looked into how to buy him.

The story I recall was Ferguson asking the team how they could do better second half, to which Giggs replied 'We should get Ronaldo on our team'...

Lots about man management, mentality and general leadership... Not a lot on tactics... Hmmmm..........

Some would say if anyone has the man management skills of someone like Sir Alex, the tactics might be of secondary importance.

I Think Rednapp at Spurs showed this, if only he had AF hunger I think we would have really built something.

Don't get me wrong, as I know he proved at Aberdeen that he could get "cheap" players play excellent football and win titles, but it sure did help him out that ManU had a budget bigger than all English clubs until Chelksi and ManC came onto the stage. He wasted plenty of money on so called talent. Although it must be pointed out he got some "normal" talented players to overachieve as well.
So yes he's the best manager in English football history - result wise.

People also tend to forget what he did at St Mirren as well.

Sadly, he wasn't given a chance to finish the fantastic job he'd started. Something I will personally never understand, or forgive Daniel Levy for, but I've moved on now.

Harry didn't seem interested in bringing on young players when he was here. He would almost always go for older experienced players unless we were playing a cup game that he was not interested in.

Seriously?

He didnt want it!

By his own admission he even tried to get Brendon Rogers on his England staff during a game of ours vs Swansea

He wanted to be somewhere else and made no mistake about showing it or letting his concentration get away from him - Redknapp himself did not properly finish the job he started.

Im sorry but he has no one at all to blame but himself.

There will be many many people on here that will find that concept hard to grasp

4-4-2/4-4-1-1/3-5-2/4-3-3/4-3-2-1/4-2-3-1 all pretty much a load of bollox it's the mentality and the teamwork of the XI that walks over the white line

The manager is the most important factor in this and he in turn needs the full support of his chairman

He picked winners who couldn't stand losing. That's the basis of his success.

He moulded them into winners. He picked good and great players with a character and mentality he could mould into becoming serial winners.

Stop going out on the piss and knuckle down, do it my way and we will win. If your not interested you know where the door is....

Great story Sir Alex tells when they are 0-3 down to Tottenham at WHL and at half time in the dressing room he doesn't say a word to them, not a word, until just before they are going back back out he says to them 'Next goal wins it!'

Those of us that were there and those of us that remember it will never forget what happened next and as Sir Alex quite brilliantly and correctly observed was that when Andy Cole scored within the first 5mins of that 2nd half there was only going to be one winner
