This bloke worries me more than Tim.

I think Tim (what a stupid name) needed a strong, experienced number 2.

Must say, not been impressed with Sir Les when hearing him on telly.

Thoughts ?

Not worried. I think Chris Ramsey will be the real assistant, whereas Les will be more a coach/player liason.

I thought you were gonna say something positive.

Only kidding. Keep up the good work.

Can anyone tell me... Have either of these two jockeys actually got any coaching badges? o_O

Every manager needs a number 2 who, in some way, is his polar opposite.

Gus Poyet spoke English (unlike Juande).
Joe Jordan was a man of action, not words (unlike Harry).
Steffen Freund was terribly dressed (unlike Andre).

And Sir Les is a very likeable bloke.

Always heard good things about Ramsey, but then i haven't heard much...

But i hope he has a big influence on the team

Coaching badges are overrated. Roy Keane didn't have the Pro Licence when he took over at Sunderland, Southgate didn't have it at Middlesbrough, Roeder didn't have it when he took over at Newcastle, Ince didn't have it when he took over at Blackburn and look what they achieved. :cautious:

But on the other hand look at some of the people who have the licence. Who in their right mind would appoint Warren Barton as manager?

SAF had no badges

But how many league titles, domestic trophies and European trophies had SAF won by the time the Pro Licence was introduced?

Also, you can't compare Sherwood to Ferguson. Fergie's managerial career started at East Stirlingshire and then he went to St. Mirren. He built his managerial career from the lower leagues.

The most important thing is that the number 2 (as well as other coaches) are in sync with TS ideas and tactics. I've just read Ledley's book and he states that when Santini was in charge and Jol was number 2 (not Santini's choice) the players would get contradictory instructions from them both and would be confused as to what to actually do.

The same issue happened with Ramos and Poyet.

I thought Ramsey was the new assistant? He was Sherwood's no#2 for the U21's so makes sense.

I played in the same team as Les in the mid 80's.....

He is a shy guy, really really top bloke, was a Spurs fan back then(not as mental as me though)...but as a person he was a class act that everyone loved and we were all so happy he became a pro...he actually stayed in touch after he 'made it'....i only have good memories of him.

Freunds staying on as well isn't he?

He's been gone for months mate. I so missed his celebrations on the touchline :( Still at the club but gone......................fuck knows what he did to piss off the club as I thought he would have stepped in until we found another manager
