Yeah, I did forget that Sky Sports no longer have 100% of the rights anymore, although before BT, there was ESPN, then Setanta before that now that I think of it.

And Prem Plus before that! (although that was Sky's PPV channel)

And what is with Sky Sports' RIDICULOUS programming branding???? SOCCER Saturday, SOCCER AM, SOCCER Special!!!! Here I was thinking the sport was known as FOOTBALL!

It's been known as soccer for years over here, in the 60's and 70's we had Star Soccer on Sundays. For some unknown reason it was suggested that it's the Americans that started calling it soccer.

That's interesting. But when have you or any Brit ever sat down for a beer with your mates and started talking about the "Soccer?"

I agree with you on that, I probabaly don't, but It's not someting that can be blamed on Sky. It's an Emglish word created by the English.

BR is right, we took the British word for the sport when our original football split into two forms, a hand-based game and a foot-based game. However, I'm with you on this one; when I hear American fans try and say "football" instead of "soccer" it makes my blood boil.

That's not what I said! LOL. Don't you mean the other way around, when they try and say "soccer" instead of "football"? Why would it bother you if they try and conform to our way of saying football?

Because in our culture the game is called soccer and has been since the game has been played here. Our version of football is as old as yours, but we also liked yours so we played it and took a name (soccer) you gave it. People here who call soccer "football" and think thy are being historically correct or culturally sensitive or whatever are not only wrong but probably an aging hipster anglophile. Most often they have never kicked a ball in their life

Oh, you're from America! You should have said! For whatever reason, I was assuming you were from Britain and when you talked about American fans saying football instead of soccer I thought you meant when you've been there or something. Yeah that makes sense that it makes your blood boil when they try and be British. Football is NFL there isn't it and so it makes sense to call it soccer.

We say "football", you say "soccer". Let's call the whole thing off ...

NB: "Soccer" derives from Association Football, but I'm sure you all knew that.

Sky over here in Central America costs me $50 a month but I do get everyone of the Premier league games played each weekend and Monday. The Spurs games I watch live the rest when it suits me.

I think nbc shows every match played . If only I could find a way of getting it here... A bloke at work , somalian, bought a sattelite dish from a dodgy bloke in shepherd bush. He can pick up every game live via Scandinavian tv. Just sticks it out on his tiny balcony.

I've just noticed that you guys in the UK get a grand total of 2 televised matches on the final day! I thought the whole reason of playing all the matches on a sunday was to avoid saturday's 3pm blackout. Why can't they make full use of it????
