This question would have seemed a million miles away from being asked in July, when he came to us with a battered reputation.6 months on and his reputation is slowly being restored, and now i find myself wondering if we can match his ambitions? Dont get me wrong im glad we operate on a sound financial game plan, but theres going to be a point where AVB will want backing, and if doesnt happen how long before another club starts looking torward our bright young coach?

I think it'll be a while. I think he'll do well over time but he'd have to have us seriously challenging for the title for another big side to come in for him and that won't happen this year, and I don't expect next year. Maybe two to three years if he achieves what we expect this year and next and stays in the job. But if he does get us to that level the reason for leaving decreases (at least in football terms and not money) because we'll be at the same level as any team he could go to.

Thing is, from other clubs' point of view we're maintaining our level from last season really and at the moment they probably think he's doing well but the jury's still out. I think it's more complicated than that (Modric leaving etc) and AvB's doing a fantastic job, but agree that the final league position is what matters and we'll see then. But in terms of results and league position we're achieving what we should with our players, same as this time last year.

It's unlikely to be the Chavs. But you never with Guardiola gone to the Germans.

Personally I would be surprised if doesn't stay with us for at least 3 years unless of course there is a massive bust up with Levy.

He's not exactly in the Fergusson/Mourinho class yet. All depends on how long his contract is, this will determine how much compo Danny will demand for any clubs that come sniffing around. For me he still has to finish the season before he can be judged a good manager or not.

Every time we have a player, and in this case a manager, who is showing huge improvement and class, there are questions about when they will leave Spurs because we are somehow not good enough to keep them. So many people lack confidence in our team and don't really believe we can ever hit the dizzy heights of the best in the world.

I'm not among them and want us to hold on to the best we have and continue to bring in more of the same to achieve the kind of success a club like Tottenham should aim for and deserve. We need that optimistic and positive mentality within and outside the club if we want to win titles and silverware again and I think we can do that.

I BELIEVE.

Always wanted him, he was my first choice and was absolutely delighted when we got him - but for the love of God, we havn't even finished the season yet, and that will be the first port of call for judgement.

for gods sake he has staryed quite well but believe me half a good season is nothing when it comes to this stuff. We don"t yet know if he will be good for us and has not done anything to alert big clubs since porto. If we win a cup or something then maybe. But managers normally get poached for sustained unexpected success not for an above par season at a team eho should be in and around those positions anyway.

If he leaves it will be because of inner club disputes not because someone poached him, but it would leave his spurs managerial carrier unfinished as well as not being really rateable. Also early arguements between board and manager are a good sign cos it shows people care. Even though the price being branded for moitinho. A player vastly overrated on this forum is simply too high and we would be mad to spend so much on him.

We have a world class training facility and a world class stadium coming. He could be our Wenger

It's still early days. Heaven forbid, a dodgy end of season and say a 6th place finish and people will be screaming for his head again.

We're halfway through the season, things can change very quickly in football, if we pick up zero points or one point from our next two league games, AVB may go from hero to zero.

Lets just say AVB continues to do well I think he would probably look to see through his project and then move elsewhere (unless he does so well a top, top team comes knocking for him). This is the mindset of the European type coach I think, like Pep had 3 years at Barca and moved on, Mourinho too - I think AVB will be the same, I just hope he sees through his plan with us because I am more than excited about our possibilities with him.

The absolute key for me, is that we continue to maintain the club philosophy with or without AVB, that is the single most important thing for me.

Just need to give him time. He is doing well with what he has.

The losses of Modric and VDV, our two best players was always going to be difficult, but we are still doing well without them.

Tie that in with the losses of Kaboul and Parker, he has done outstanding to have us in 4th, few points free, and just coming off a draw with Utd, and us taking 4 points off them this season (a first?).

Lets just carry on, no added pressure.

Yes we could do with a striker, another midfielder or something, and I'd love to see us improve the squad now, rather than later, but lets give the man some time, he is more than aware of the financial challenges we have - stadium etc, and if he brings success during this, it only helps his cause, as well as ours.

Agree that the first point at which to judge him is the summer. Hypothetically, should we have finished 4th and done well in the Europa and FAC then one would have to consider how he might be attractive to one of the super-clubs (e.g. a potentially manager-less RM). Especially as the merry-go-round at Stamford Bridge will support the view that his 'failure' there was understandable and that he didn't get enough time

As long as get on with the stadium and continue to invest in top young players then I think he'll stick with the project

If Levy really wants Spurs to succeed, buy AVB a couple of expensive toys that he wants and dangle a 5-year extension in front of him and of course with a hefty pay rise.

AVB has done very very well but BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT we will never eve rfulfil our potential if we dont start signing players when we are at a good point. Last January we need one or two to push us over the finishing line and that didnt happen.

I dread that this January will be the same and it may not help us with a late surge.

AVB will never fulfil what he would like to fulfil i.e. our potential if we dont get in the two or three that will help propell us. We seem to procrastinate and when we are doing well it signals Levy into thinking oh our squad is good enough.

Yetsredays draw masked our deficiencies in finishing off chances and that will cost us in two or three games this season which may prevent us from finishing top four.

AVBs stamp is on the team now and that is evident and for that he has to have great credit BUT how long will he stay? if he isnt fully backed by the chairman then not very long.

Yh thats what i think.Hes obviously ambitious, so hopefully we can match his ambitions. What i dont get is we agreed the Moutinho deal but were scuppered by time contraints apparantly, so why not go out, get him and wrap a big bow around him for Andre, and say so far so good, keep it up son.Levys relationship with H broke down over time i hope this one doesnt.

When we win the Champions League in a few years, he's going to be impossible to hold onto. Just accept that Barco or Real will come in for him the second after we lift the big eared trophy
