Fellow fans,

The debate is on about formations, players, right side, Defoe and just about everything else at the moment. It makes me wonder: what's the view on the most important players for the team? And what is your top line-up?

So without further ado, please rank the current top 11 players in the Spurs squad (independent of position). If I'm not too lazy I'll summarize scores in the end to see to get a final SC current Spurs players ranking table. Then, pick your first 11 and 7 subs when everyone is fit.

Here's mine:

Player ranking:

1: Ledley King
2: Luka Modric
3: Gareth Bale
4: Rafa VDV
5: Adebayor
6: Scott Parker
7: Sandro
8: Tom Huddlestone
9: BAE
10: Michael Dawson
11: Aaron Lennon

1st 11 with everyone fit:

Friedel

Walker Dawson King BAE

Sandro Parker

VDV Modric Bale

Adebayor

Subs: Gomes, Kaboul, Corluka, Huddlestone, Lennon, Defoe, Pav

I'll happily rank the players based entirely on how good they are (and not how much we need them at the moment, because that would see Adebayor a lot higher up the list):

1: Ledley King
2: Luka Modric
3: Gareth Bale
4: Rafa VDV
5: William Gallas
6: Adebayor
7: Scott Parker
8: Sandro
9: BAE
10: Aaron Lennon
11: Michael Dawson

I think from 10 onwards there are a lot of players of a very similar standard. The best 11 really does depend on opposition. Yesterday for example, we should have seen both Parker and Sandro starting, with the rest mixed around depending on your fancy (Defoe/Ade, VdV Ade, 4-4-2, 4-3-3 etc.). However, in games against weaker teams I'm happy to see a more attacking line up with just one of Parker/Sandro.

Kaboul for Dawson please.
I'd like to get peoples' lists and first 11s - and not turn this into a Dawson/Kaboul discussion. But personally I feel Dawson just about edges Kaboul, but Kaboul's got the greatest longer-term potential..

It's really hard to rank them really and that's because the form of these players change all the time. There is a HUGE difference then

3. Bale
4. Sandro
5. VDV

8. Gallas
9. Parker
10. Kaboul

Fully fit 11

Friedel
Walker King Gallas BAE
Sandro Parker
VDV Modric Bale
Ade

With that team you wouldn't need VDV to drop back and help walker, because Sandro would drift there and Luka would drop back

Given that most people, including me would pick the following as the strongest starting 11

----------Friedel
Walker--Gallas--King--BAE
-----Parker-----Sandro
---VDV---Modric---Bale
---------Adebayor

I think it really shows the strength of our squad when you see our second string

----------Gomes
Corluka--Dawson--Kaboul--Rose
Lennon--Hudd--Kranjcar--Pienaar
----Pav----Defoe---

With Cudicini, Bassong, Livermore, GDS plus all the kids and players out on loan, I think its only the 2 manc squads that could be considered stronger.

When you see it written out like that it is very impressive, I can't remember us ever having a squad this strong.

I'm amazed that anyone had Lennon anywhere near our top 11 players. He's quick, but there's not a brain to speak of, footballing or otherwise. The only difference between my two lists is that I think Kranjcar is a great player, meaning he makes the top 11 but not the team as van der Vaart and Bale are better.

Our most important player right now is Adebayor hands down as we have no replacement for him.

Parker is probably second (or at least one of him or Sandro) as we desperately need one or both in the centre.
