There are shitloads of Spurs fans in Norway. Dunno why there are so few on here, because there are hundreds on COYS

Almost 3000 Norwegian Spurs fans pays £20 every year to be a part of the Norwegian Supporters Club and our message board is the third biggest Spurs forum on the web as far as I know(only SC and COYS are bigger).

We have meets every game. More than 100 Yids saw the Everton and S'land games at Bohemen Sportspub in Oslo, and I've heard it's almost as big in Trondheim and Bergen.
There are also a meet at Corner Pin pre match and Bricklayers post match for Norwegians attending matches at WHL. We are usually the first to arrive in the morning and the last Spurs fans to leave N17 at night.

There will be a big 125th anniversary for Spurs and 25 years anniversary for the Supporters club at Harry's Sportsbar in Oslo 1 september. More info regarding this will be posted in Norwegian on www.tottenhamsvenner.no later today.

Found this from a pub in Oslo. I think we've just defeated S'land 3-2 at home

Top job, NY, why so many Spurs fans over there? Remnants of Thorsvedt?

Spurs fans come in all ages here. They've been popular ever since they started showing English football in Norway around 1970.

Thorstvedt did a lot to sell us to the younger generations, and of course Iversen, Leonhardsen and Baardsen (even though he didn't play much).

Erik The Viking was popular, but Spurs were big in Norway before him as well.

Never heard about anyone starting to support Spurs because of Iversen, Leonardshen or Baardsen though

Well, nobody dares to admit it (as we were kind of ... bad), but the Norwegian connection we had in the 90s/early 00s with these players certainly helped sell us to the Norwegian public.

I read this forum occasionally but post more often on other forums. I am also like Norwegian Yid a regular at Bohemen.

I have also had the pleasure to visit most of the pubs Spurs fans go to in our largest cities. It is difficult to rank which of them is best as they are all quite different in layout.

I think that the atmosphere is best at Bohemen in Oslo, whilst the organization is best at Three Lions in Trondheim, and the premises are the best at Scotsman in Bergen.

I know hundreds of Norwegian Spurs fans, and never heard of anyone who started supporting us because of the Norwegian connection in the late 90's/early 00's.

However, Erik The Viking is in my experience the biggest reason that there are so many Norwegian Spurs fans in their twenties.

Hello guys, or as they say in Norway: halla balla!

Just found this thread. I've been here for a while, but I rarely stray outside of the news section - unless I'm at work or seriously bored.

I, for one, turned to Spurs in 90-91 thanks to Erik the Viking, although Lineker, Gazza and Mabbutt may have had something to do with as well. Still a bit pissed off at Ian Walker for taking his place! :)

I'd guess that there probably are a few more who come on here to read, but don't post as they're not confident about their English.

I highly doubt it, most Norwegians English is high above average, and I do not know many in my age-group (-30 ish) that do not speak english well. Most of them are very good in their written English aswell.

For me personally I come on this board occasionnally to read, but I prefer other boards mainly because of the layout. It's more a question about taste I believe.

Due to there being only one Norwegian channel showing PL football, which also have a tendency to prioritize "the big four", I tend to rely on Sopcast and other p2p services. Last season I managed to watch almost all of our matches that way. The streams are getting better and better, too, and no more Cantonese or Thai commentaries... :)

If you're still wondering they won 2-0, making it Norway 5-0 Finland overall ;)
