Tottenham last night made their move to hijack Liverpool’s bid to sign Southampton’s Dejan Lovren.

So another season finishing behind the scousers is likely. He's already said his head is at liverpool. Unlikely we shall be hijacking anything imo.

This has been our problem in recent yearsto borrow an 'arry catchphrase, "He's a top top player" but why is it Saints scouting system picks up these gems like Lovren and Schneiderlin, and we pay top dollar 12-24 months later??? Barcodes with Cabaye another case in point.
Yes it would be great to have one or both of them at WHL for the coming season, but why are our scouts not unearthing the up and coming stars rather than splashing a large part of our budget on a few players.
Berba, Modric, Bale were all relative gambles, and of course some of our foreign signings were nowhere near as successful. I'm just nervous of buying these players at the top of their value curve, rather than earlier in their careers?
My thoughts exactly. Not to mention that now, they'll be playing in Europe. I think (or rather I hope) that this season thing's will be a lot closer between us now. That's the spirit.
Doubt that Lovren will be able to make up for losing their one man team though...

I'm not being a loser by facing facts mate; we were pathetic at the back last season but so were Liverpool. By obtaining Lovren we can not only strengthen ourselves but deny them a quality defender. Even with the Suarez money they may not be able to find quality Centre-Backs.That's the spirit.

I also think the scousers won't exactly be toothless when they lose Suarez; both Sturridge and Sterling should improve next season, plus they now have more goals in Lambert.
Sorry if I gave the impression that you called me a loser....I did say "mate" to try to avoid any possible personal comments from developing.
For the record I don't think I called you a loser.
But with almost a month before the season kicks off, and two before the TW closes, I think its a bit premature to be calling the Lovren deal as the decider in a mini race with Liverpool ...
Lovren isn't worth 18m. If Liverpool want to pay that it's fine by me.

I also didn't say the Lovren deal was a "decider"v's Liverpool. I only pointed out that the Lovren deal would/could be a real factor in the race,
I also disputed your assertion that Liverpool are not much without Suarez -which other than highlighting that part of my post - you didn't really respond to.
and a back up keeperNot for 18m. Looks like they will buy a lot of players after selling Louis. They will need time too gel. But are players are fresh this year with 1 year under there belt they can only get better. Eg: we only need a cb, left back and a forward.
