Was Wimmer getting in to Austria's starting XI's for their friendlies? What's the chance he will play today?

He hasn't ever been first choice for Austria and has very few caps.

I was thinking last night why dont we just sing (to the old Bale song)..

Al-der-wer-eld,
Al-der-wer-eld,
Al-der-wer-eld needs a song
Aaaaal-der-wer-eld needs a song

I think that would be quite funny

Also I think need to tweak Eric Diers song to..

I love Eric Di-er,
So does Dele Al-li,
I love Eric Diiii-er,
Errrr-ic Dier loves me

It's a shame England fans don't sing some of the players songs really.
I guess it's just because they don't like singing for rival clubs players.

Watching Italy last night though just shows how together they are at these major tournaments
The way they celebrated the 2nd goal at the end with everyone coming off the bench
Belgium (like England really) look good on paper but they just don't gel together as a team
Hazard plays like a world beater to stop Spurs winning the title yet showed none of that last night
It makes you wonder what it takes to motivate a player

Lloris, Rose, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Walker, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli, Lamela & Kane is a stronger and more balanced team than yesterday's England starting XI of Hart, Cahill, Smalling, Lallana, Rooney & Stirling playing with the 5 Spurs players.
That's pretty natural though. With the money in club football most club sides are going to be better than most international sides.

Hazard is a real muppet - would love it if Conte sees right through him and sells him this summer to PSG

No.

I like, respect and admire him.

He's a skilful and intelligent player but he has no pace which would now be even more of a limitation than it was a couple of years ago. We've moved on and improved and he would now represent a step backwards. Gawd blessim.
Disagree, think he'd fit very well into Poch's system as a centre back.

Belgium have had injury problems with Kompany and full backs, so why not go with a back three??

Also play Dembele instead of one of the two "holding" midfielders, they were both poor, play Hazard in the hole and De Bruyne and Mertens wide. Leaves room for Screech to play up the middle, using his height to both defend and attack.

Simples ??
Carrasco > Mertens surely.

Charlie was one of my favourite players, cooler than the other side of the pillow. Redknapp replacing him with Walker was one of the reasons I had a dislike for him

Shame Wimmer isn't playing, was looking forward to see him stonewalling a few players. He's become a real favourite of mine in his short time with us

Neither Alderweireld nor Vertonghen could even be described as of average pace. Reading of the game is far more important, and that's Corluka's strongest quality.

Reading the game wouldn't do him any good when there's 40 yards between 'keeper & defence, then someone drops the ball into that space for an attacker to skin him.

I love Corluka as a player, but this system & manager just wouldn't suit him at all.

They're still considerably quicker than Charlie, who is as slow as the day is long.

Agree on reading of the game, but in a deeper back line.

You can read the game as well as you want, but if you're racing back to your own goal, staring at the number on the strikers back, it's not much use.

Me too! He (Corluka) was treated really shabbily by Redknapp, in my opinion. In fact, half of the squad that gave him his most successful PL campaign in his whole career was treated like shit & benched/ignored the season after we got our first 4th place finish after the dramatic win against City.

Heck, our right side combination of Corluka & Lennon was, in my opinion, one of the best wide pairings in the league. Lennon was actually producing, and was naturally complementing to Corluka's game. It just worked! Still, as I said just now, we've moved on significantly since then & Corluka wouldn't work for us/our system now.

Can't believe how Hungary pulled that Austrian defense apart so easily on the counter. That back 4 were nowhere to be seen and they appeared to be all out of sorts at times. Surprised that Wimmer is considered worse than what's been seen so far.

One of the pundits in the studio described Sigurdsson as 'athletic'. A good player, but he moves like he is running in humus and he would lose a 50-50 with the corner flag
