Tottenham are ready to sell Aaron Lennon in January but the former England player is no hurry to leave White Hart Lane.

Lennon has slipped down the pecking order to such an extent under head coach Mauricio Pochettino that he was not even on the bench for last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Southampton and was only a second-half substitute against Besiktas in the Europa League.

Both Queens Park Rangers and Stoke tried to sign Lennon in the final days of the summer transfer window but neither could agree a deal with the player and Spurs. And there might be similar problems when the window re-opens.

Lennon is valued at between £8million and £10m but even if Spurs could persuade a club to meet that asking price, it is thought Lennon is not in a rush to depart. His wages, which are about £55,000 a week, could also prove a stumbling block.

Despite Pochettino’s verdict that Lennon is likely to have few chances this season — he is behind Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela and Andros Townsend in the pecking order — the 27-year-old is confident he can force his way back into the team.

It's over little man....

Think he's happy to just hang around in the shadows, get paid and run out his contract though. Sadly.

He's not fussed... train 5 days a week, pick up your £50k, go shag birds and drive flash cars. Mugs game.
Yup. He couldn't care less. Making a lovely living and he's quite happy thank you very much.

I think it's a strong symbolic move to try and move him on, finally.

Poch weeding out the weak ones one by one.

I think he's very talented but very unambitious. Hence a lot of folk think he's never stepped up to his true potential, & hence he's probably perfectly happy seeing out his days with us

I think he's just very, very fast and has built a career largely off of that. Good on him, but we need much more now.

Definitely unambitious, for sure.

Holding out hope QPR will come back in for him in January and he'll be more amenable to it. He likely wouldn't have to move, they'd likely match his salary, and of course he'd actually play. His playing time has been dwindling all the more as the short season has progressed, so it's rather clear Poch is trying to push the cards here.

Appreciate everything he's done for us, but we need to improve and he looks to badly need a change in scenery (clearly the new training center didn't do the trick).

That's a good shout and would leave everyone happy.

he is certainly reached a critical point in his career

I felt he had an opportunity with Posch especially in the Us to show he could something other than sprit down the wing and defend at times especially when he played in the middle

If he would shoot he would be ideal coming in of he left but he would still only be a back up to Chadli

So will it be Arry, Hughes or middle Eastern money

Edit
PS He could give Steve Bruce a call

Severe lack of ambition unlike Andros. We need each and every one of our players striving to be the best they can.

That's the frustrating thing about Andros, he's got great ambition, desire and determination but it's all horribly applied.

In the US AL looked great. I thought quick balls up to him playing centrally would reap big benefits this season. We have been lacking pace recently and it does not seem MoPo has a burning desire to restart using it.

Been a very good player for us over the years. Lack of application hasn't really been an issue, the problem he was always going to have was losing half a yard. Now it's happening it's no surprise to see him struggling. His whole game is built around pace and sharpness, take that away and you are left with a very average footballer.

Luckily Poch seems to prefer brains over headless chicken pace.

Also, I think the way Poch wants to play demands a level of technical ability Lennon and Townsend don't possess. He wants quick one or two touch moves around the opposition area. Watching the Europa league performances these 2 players really struggle to do that a pace. I lost count of the amount of times they miscontrol the ball or don't move to collect a return ball.
