Spurs ready to sell Aaron Lennon but he's in no mood to quit

He has not been the same player since Corluka left IMO.
Those two had a real understanding. Where as Walker and Lennon just get in eachothers way.
Also Lennon has spent most of his career playing 442. He has struggled as an inverted winger.

The problem was that very early on he was quite content with how things had turned out and so clearly didn't have any more desire to keep striving to improve his game, such as improved crossing/setpiece delivery or improving his shooting and comfort in playing in central areas. What we now see are the consequences of this, he's lost his pace and now contributes pretty much fuck all.

Lennon only cost 1 million, Dembele cost 13 million and his place as just been taken by someone who cost nothing at all, so get rid of him first before he declines even more.

It's over little man....

Think he's happy to just hang around in the shadows, get paid and run out his contract though. Sadly.
Why sadly? Been a good servant to the club IMO even if he never truly reached the levels we all thought he could . Sad to see him leave tbh works hard for the team and rarely hear a peep from him.

The infographic that the official website has put together is a nice touch and shows how important he was to us at stages. I do think its time to leave now though and I hope he goes on and does well at another club!

Lennon's problem has been, after his initial burst onto the scene, he has not kicked on. He started as a tricky speedy winger - remember his few games when he came in for the injured Wayne Routledge? There were flicks past defenders, dribbles, quite a bit of flair. Then he lost it, he became 'solid', reliable in terms of working back defensively, but no longer the big attacking threat.

He started being functional, a drop of the shoulder being his only tactic although with his pace that could get him somewhere, but various leg strains would end up with him simply not taking on a full back, ever, and because he has always lacked natural crossing ability he has become blunted.

I also think managers haven't worked out how to use him - get him running down the line, and into his two crossing options - lofted chip to far post, for Crouch to head in, or pull back Defoe to put in. Once we went to one upfront and Lennon (31 goals in his career!) to do more than just put those two crosses in, he was always going to struggle.

I think he puts in a decent shift, shame he hasn't become more. A longer term manager might have helped his career but under Poch he just isn't what we need. He is absolutely anonymous on the left of an attacking midfield 3, and for all Townsend's faults he at least hints at offering a threat.

Might be difficult to offload him because of his wages and the fact he is probably content at the club, only another London team or somewhere nearish Leeds will probably interest him - come on Harry, you know you fancy it...

He's been a good servant to the club. But if we can upgrade then we should.

Holding out hope QPR will come back in for him in January and he'll be more amenable to it. He likely wouldn't have to move, they'd likely match his salary, and of course he'd actually play. His playing time has been dwindling all the more as the short season has progressed, so it's rather clear Poch is trying to push the cards here.

Appreciate everything he's done for us, but we need to improve and he looks to badly need a change in scenery (clearly the new training center didn't do the trick).

That's the hope but I believe QPR will be deep in a relegation battle by then and be even less attractive to join than they are right now.

You're probably right, but I remain in hope. It's not as if he has much interest in the game anymore anyway, so maybe the status of the club will not be as relevant.

In all reality though, I'd imagine he's much more content remaining at a secure Prem club even if it means less playing time.

Not really too bothered. Loyalty works both ways IMO. He's got a contract, still been getting minutes and probanly doesn't fancy moving to Stoke. Who would?

I think the earlier posts are quite correct. Lennon just didn't develop his all round game to turn himself into a superb player. It is easy to get sentimental about players that have been at a club for a while. I did over Daws. But looking at Spurs now and craving success, peripheral players like Lennon need to move on to make room for those that are willing to take their game to that next level. There is no room for sentiment. I'd wish the lad luck though, i've never heard him cause any dressing room problems or mouth off on social media.

As if it will be that easy to sell him off. I appreciate Lennon and some of the things he's done during his long stay at the club, but I think it's fair to say we should expect better players and we can realistically find a better player.

It's not ambition he lacks, it's talent and bollocks. And right now he's standing in the way of someone like Pritchard's ambition.

Don't know about him but I'm fucking ready for him to be sold.

If Pritch was good enough Poch wouldn't choose Lennon ahead of him, would he? I'm all for selling Lennon but I can't see how he could be accused of preventing players already at the club from coming through.

Luckily Poch seems to prefer brains over headless chicken pace.

Also, I think the way Poch wants to play demands a level of technical ability Lennon and Townsend don't possess. He wants quick one or two touch moves around the opposition area. Watching the Europa league performances these 2 players really struggle to do that a pace. I lost count of the amount of times they miscontrol the ball or don't move to collect a return ball.

Amen to brains over headless chicken pace . Wish some of our fans would get on board. I think that was one of the main reasons people were giving of chadli not beibg able to make it
