Spurs to bid for Arsenal's Diarra
tribalfootball.com - December 20, 2007

Tottenham are planning a bid for Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra - less than six months after he quit Chelsea.
The Guardian says Diarra alerted a host of clubs, including Lyon in his native France, when he revealed his determination to quit Arsenal just four months after joining them from Chelsea.

Damien Comolli, the Tottenham sporting director and Diarra's compatriot, knows the midfielder's representatives and will look into signing him for Juande Ramos, the club's new manager. Ramos would like fresh blood in defensive midfield.
Fifa's transfer regulations state that a player "is only eligible to play in official matches for two clubs" in the period from 1 July to 30 June of the following year but they may be registered for "a maximum of three clubs". Diarra came on for Chelsea as a substitute in the Community Shield against Manchester United on August 5 but he did not play for them again before his transfer to Arsenal on August 31. The Football Association confirmed last night that the Community Shield was not an official first-team game.

Totally agree.

He did a very good job for Chelsea as a right back while learning his trade and we all know how much Thudd rates him as a DM.

It must be a similar learning curve to a CB in that you can have all the natural attributes and the right mentality but nothing beats experience. Although Arsenal would be a good place for a young frenchie to develop he has too much competition from Silva and Denilson to get enough experience. As we don't have a dedicated DM we'd be offering him a similar environment (young squad) but more opportunity to gain experience. It'd be a win-win.

You what?

What a load of old pony! He's hardly a world beater and what would be the point in signing someone who is no better or worst then what we alread have. Back to the drawing board Commelli! We need a player on the Euro stage who can come in and do what Davids did a couple of seasons ago. A leader and a gobshite who'll grab the game by the scruff of the neck and hold the midfield. Ive seen nothing that makes this fella outstanding in any department!

Would like him very much. He's aggresive and skillfull. Just what we need. He would also fit into our general transfer policy. If true would be pretty pleased. Every time I've seen him, I've been quietly impressed.

Would be worthwhile if he is on the cheap as he def has alot of potential. I think as someone has already said we need a real dirty bastard in or midfield.....someone in the Poulsen mould who the others, Diarra and Hudd could learn from!

You're talking about different players. Diarra is always being compared to Makelele, fairly in my view, and you wouldn't say he is any of those things but you wouldn't say no either.

Boateng looks like he's got those qualities and you're right that we do need them but, as Davids proved, he doesn't have to be in CM to use them.

Is the way to break the top four by buying a player that couldn't get into Chelsea or Arsenal's first teams?

He's a kid though. Why would Arsenal take him from Chelsea in the first place?

It's not his fault he's behind Fibreglass, Flammable and Slither is it?

I cant see this happening, I dont have any opinions on the palyer one way or another (as to how he would do for us) I just really dont think this will occur. Sounds more like a Spursking wet dream then a valid transfer rumour

Look at the players who are ahead of him at Arsenal and Chelsea.

Will Robbie Keane and Jerman Defoe break us into the top 4? Either of them wouldn't get anywhere near the top 4 squads.

I would be over the moon if we bought him.

Well yes it is. He is not as good as them, even though some are younger. I think my point still stands.

General Levy - I think it is because most of our players would not get into the top four teams that we are not a top four team.

hah u are very cynical negative person!

for me keane defoe would do well in, for example, manure front line.
not unlike tevez and rooney partnership is it?

oh no wait, now u are going to say that they are no where near as good as tevez rooney..

but you are wrong.

I think that a few of our players would get into all of the top 4 squads. I'm not going to go into that now though, save it for a raining day

I would love to have Diarra playing DCM. He definitely is very good, although I have only seen him play about 6 times.
