Spurs 1 - 0 RCD Mallorca
Translation from tournament site

These teams are among the favorites of the tournament. After defeats on Friday, both use the favorites Saturday at the role and needs to be. Both RCD Mallorca and the Spurs offer good football, which rounds off the second tournament day. Slight advantage in Tottenham but the best chance of the first half, the Spaniards. Jonathan Miles has left his goal and clear headed, and so the Spaniards to come to a good chance, but a tad too long to wait so that the keeper can rush back into the goal. In the final phase makes Tottenham pressure but the young Spanish keeper Tolo Barcelo shows a strong performance. The Spurs do with impending end to more and be rewarded. Great cross from the right in the middle and throws himself into the ball Tottenham Alex McQueen and decapitates one. Mallorca responds and comes to a double chance, but Miles is at his post. Both goalkeepers making good saves with attention. In the end, Tottenham deserved winner, joining thus Hannover 96, Club América and Werder Bremen in the semifinals. The regular guest from Spain plays against the Congolese people for 5th place The Mühlies try against the highly-traded Zurich still room to reach seventh

Semi finals at 11.15 and 12.30 German time (hour earlier in UK)

No tables on the tourament site yet but we may have topped the Group and will play Werder Bremen in the 12.30 match.

If I am wrong we play Club Amercia in at least one of those matches (just going for a lie down after doing the calculations and translating the rules from German !)

A 3-0 victory over Hannover thanks to goals from Munns, Bentaleb and Fredericks, followed by a 1-0 win against Mallorca - who only needed a draw to progress - ensured we progress to face Werder Bremen in the semi-finals.

A loss to Grasshopper Zurich on Friday meant that only two wins would guarantee that we would make iit through to the latter stages of the tournament, and coach Alex Inglethorpe was delighted with the performances.

"I thought we were outstanding against Hannover. It had style and we were very clinical in winning 3-0. We were delighted with how the game went. That meant that we still had a tough game against Mallorca as we needed to win, and we managed to do that in the second to last minute of normal time," Alex told tottenhamhotspur.com after the match.

"It was really pleasing and we deserved it. We've been the most attacking team, and I think we've been the most adventurous, so I'm really pleased we're in the semi-final.

"It was a collective effort; everybody has made a start, everybody has contributed, and I think that the most pleasing aspect was that as good as the first performance was against Zurich, I thought the displays today were very good in a different way.

"We had to deal with Mallorca who knew that they only needed a draw and so were slow and wasted time, but we kept our cool and didn't get frustrated at all and eventually we got out reward."

A semi-final against Werder Bremen is next up on Sunday and Inglethorpe is confident of victory.

"If we can do what we know is right, and play in the way and style in which we're capable of, then I've got high hopes for us. I think it's been an outstanding achievement up to now."

TEAM VS HANNOVER: Lawrence; Barthram; Ball; Stewart; Smith; Bentaleb; Gomelt; Pritchard; Fredericks; Munns (Gardiner 50); Z-Caicedo (Ward 44)

Goals: Munns 19, Bentaleb 41, Fredericks 50+2
TEAM VS MALLORCA: Miles ; Gardiner (Munns 28) ; Ball; Stewart; Barthram; Bentaleb; Gomelt; Lameiras (Z-Caicedo 26); W-Lassen (A.McQueen 44); Pritchard; McEvoy

Goal: A.McQueen 48min

BTW, the 'Lawrence' in goal is probably Lawrence Vigouroux who apprantly signed about a month ago after a trial including one appearance for Spurs undr 18 side. He was not announced by Spurs as being in the squad for this tournament but with Fredericks (aso not in squad announced on OS) this makes it a squad of 18 - much more logical than the 16 man squad announced on OS with only one goalkeeper.

I absolutely love this line! Decapitates? Really? I'd love to see that!

Apart from the first game it looks like we're doing well!

I take it Soul-man Corblimey isn't in the squad?

Squad earlier in thread - but no he is not.

BTW, the decapitates one (English = head the the ball into goal) makes a change from 'running around like a headless chicken' applied to numerous footballers !

Slightly late but much better than usual, the OS gives us more news !

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
The Academy team is through to the final of the Volksbank Cup after goals from Bentaleb, Z-Caicedo & Ward secured a 3-0 win over W Bremen.

Tough final, Club Amercia (from Mexico) have been on a Europoean tour and won another u 19 tournament 2 weeks or so ago, so it will be a tough ask for a fairly young squad (ages in brackets below ) - 3 at 19, 5 at 18 years old (Vigeroux by only a week or two) and the rest younger

1. Jonathan Miles (19)
2. Jack Barthram (18)
3. Kevin Stewart (18)
4. Jack Munns (18)
5. Thomas Gardiner (17)
6. Dominic Ball (16)
7. Jesse Waller Lassen (19)
8. Nabil Bentaleb (15)
9. Victor Zapata-Caicedo (17)
10. Tomislav Gomelt (17)
11. Alex Pritchard (19)
12. Grant Ward (18)
13. Lawrence Vigouroux (18)
14. Ruben Lameiras (17)
15. Kenneth McEvoy (17)
16. Samuel Smith (17)
17. Alex McQueen (17)
18. Ryan Fredericks (19)

Despite the fact he got us knocked out of the NextGen last year (although this wasn't really his fault), Bentalab seems like a real talent. 2 goals in four games in this tournament as a 15 year old midfielder...

Understand the Bindippers complaint was about 2 players in an earlier round (ie not the Liverpool match when Bentelab first appeared) - and they would not have had time to check him out just after that match, so that statement may not be true.

But agree with you that he could be a great talent - problem is that some of those who look great at 15/16 lose it by the time they are 21 and a few average looking ones at 15/16 look amazing at 21. But its great to see potential at all ages, and hope he keeps going as he is

The only one to have appeared in any first team games is Ryan Fredericks (right/left winger) who had about 3 games in Europa League, Stewart, Barthram and Pritchard have appeared on the bench at Europa League games - expect all these to make an appearance in Europa league this season if not on loan - the others are likely to feature in NextGen Series games next season.

The future is bright !
