Think AVB should play his best team for the first time - there are a few days to train toigerther before then, and then no match until the return leg a week later.

Lloris
Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto
Dembele, Parker/Livermore
Lennon, Holtby, Bale
Adebayor
Only question is whether he gives Livermore a run out to rest Parker.
If Adebayor is still in disgrace, expect to see the strikerless formation with Dempsey replacing Adebayor in a flat front 4 - rotating so that one os playing the front man.
Subs : Could be interesting to see whether he brings a couple of the youngsters on to the bench - as a minimum I'd expect to see Harry Kane there, but I'd really like to see 1 or 2 more amongst a 7 man bench . Otherwise the subs pretty much pick them themselves

I totally agree and think even more so after seeing BAE, Verts and Ade not starting. Possibly he might rest Dembele and bring in Siggy. Maybe even Gallas for Daws,

Give Bale a rest for this one, stick him on the subs and bring him on if we're struggling. The competition is too serious now to field Friedel for sentimental reasons so Lloris should start from now on for me as he's simply the better keeper and doesn't need to be rested (no disrespect Brad (y))
Lloris
Walker Gallas Vertonghen BAE
Livermore Dembele
Lennon-----Sigurdsson---Dempsey
Adebayor
Subs: Friedel, Naughton, Dawson, Huddlestone, Holtby, Bale, Kane

I'm very excited about this game, and I'm glad that AVB looks like fielding a strong team.

I'll be honest and say that I didn't really care one way or another during the group stages. However knockout European football is another thing altogether, especially when playing a team like Lyon. This is what football is all about, and although it might not be Champions League, it's still a game against a major European side, with the possibility of another European game against Inter.

Bring it on!

Surprised that some people don't seem to have seen how little football Spurs are playing in the Premiership in the next few weeks - if we didn't play Lyons we would be trying to arrange a freindly to keep the players fit.

Lyon (France) ………… 14-02-13
Lyon (France) ………….. 21-02-13
West Ham United ……….. 25-02-13
Arsenal…………………. 03-03-13

That's why I think we'll play the strongest team we have, at least, in the first game

It' will have been a couple of years since Spurs played a full strength team in Europe as 'arry didn't like the Europa League so imo the fans will be 'up for it'

Benny, Vertonghen and Adebayor in for Naughton, Caulker and Dempsey. Otherwise the same team as today.
