Butt's goal was a direct result of this formation. Butt marked Berbatov in the Toon half but no one tells Berbatov what to do, so whenever Butt came into our half he did so unmarked. So no pressure on him (apart from Zokora running up to see what was happening) when he scored the equaliser.

Category A price for a category Z effort. I can only think that Ramos is just pissing about and trying things for the sake of it. If so fine, but let the fans know in advance and charge accordingly so that those of us who don't want to turn up to watch that shite can be spared the misery.

I'm so pissed off and I didn't even make it to the match.
The frustration would be 100 times worst if I did. Feel for all of those who spent their hard earned money to put up with that rubbish.

I'm just happy to see that Ramos tried that formation out with Berba behind the front two. Didn't work today. Maybe because you can't really play Huddlestone and Berba in the same midfield. Whatever it was, it didn't really work today, so never mind.

Occasionally I wonder why I dont go to SPurs games any more.

Now I remember. The last game I saw we lost 3-0 at home to Middlesbrough. Im fed up of the players not even bothering. 4-1 against Newcastle is an insult to the supporters. Its fucking shit.

Simply shocking.

I'm not gonna single out players cos they were all shocking today, and I think Cristiano Ronaldo would've struggled to play well amongst that team today.

That second half was the worst performance I've seen at the Lane for about 3 years. Saying that though if Butt hadn't scored when he did the game could've been very different.

I think 3up was worth a try, with Bent seemingly running into some form and Lennon being below par.
It didn't work but that was no excuse to get thrashed by a team that is struggling at the wrong end of the table.
The players should have more pride and professionalism than to allow that to happen.
Look at the big clubs who we aspire to compete with occasionally- they lose once in a while but never lose 4-1 at home to a poor team like Newcastle- not that they looked poor today- they looked brilliant- but they don't look brilliant against top clubs.
Other mistakes included playing O'Hara at left back. We saw against Eindhoven 2nd half that he cant play there and brining on Tarabat- God he was awful- he was like a skillful eight year old who hasn't learn to pass yet. I would love to replace the whole team but in the short term that might mean bringing back Jenas- the original have one good game and cruise through the next seven big time Charlie

This absolutely sums up the flaw in the 'let's just experiment' rest of the season. I was all for trying new ideas out, but when it results in such a poor return for fans' hard-earned, you have to ask questions.

I no longer give a shit who stays on this team. You won a cup....thanks. Now fuck off back to whatever hole you crawled out of. You netted a totals of 0 points against a team that Derby took 4 off. You're a bunch of over-pampered worthless twats.

And in two or three days, I might find it in my heart to forgive some of the players, but I doubt it.

Because Berbatov and keane are our proven best partnership. no problem with Bent appearing from the bench or 1 or 2 starts but not as part of a 3. As proven time and time again that does not work. 2 is company, 3 is a crowd.

Yea ok, lets never give Bent a chance, even though he's doing his job well.

....as for hutton, yes again i see where you are coming from, but i think he got a bit isolated during the game and so did a great job considering . i'm also thinking about his progress though: when he first arrived he never really ventured forward. now he's rampaging up and down the touch line and i'm sure it's only a matter of time before the crosses start to be delivered. he'll also benefit from having a winger in front of him to create some space for him.

He's primarily a defender , nothing like as good as Dani Alves going forward .

Haven't seen him take on and beat his man yet .
Perhaps if he had confidence in whoever was covering for him he might .

Know the feeling mate! Just started back on nights tonight at 7. 12 hour shifts as well. At least someone's going through the same!

we were terrible today - it's rare I say this but we were - I can't think of anyone who deserves more than 5 - and my favourite player Berbatov was one of the worst today

Who was it that gave the ball away cheaply for their equaliser?

The ball came from the area where Huddlestone should have dealt with it. Woody then did a fairy impression and failed to clear, the ball trickling off his little toe to their RW. O'Hara didn't close him down as the ball was squared into acres of space in the middle a.k.a. Zokora country. Zoko Pops flounced into view, yards behind the play just as Nicky Butt connected with a pea-roller than dribbled into the corner as Robbo did his old 'well, I can't save it, so let's just stand very, very still and watch a tame shot go into the goal' impression.

And as BOF pointed out, Berbs dilly-dallying played no small part too.

Oh, and cheers to DC below, who was absolutely right when he pinpointed Steeds contribution. That was crap, too. In fact in the whole debacle, the only player on the pitch who could be considered blameless was Robbie Keane. Darren Bent may not have played a role, but I got pissed off with his face as he walked off. Grumpy sod. :-|

All in all it was one of those moments where the whole team came together with one shared aim and combined objective: to fuck everything up.

He did it three times today. And in the Pompey game he went on a run past 4 players before driving into the box and winning a corner. Comparatively he was quiet today, but still worked hard. Could have done with a proper midfield in front of him.
