What even if we don’t win something? Come on that’s not true.

We have had whole half’s where none of that has happened. I am a Spurs fan so I want to enjoy watching us play. Surely that’s important?
I’m pretty sure there has never been a half in which we haven’t done some defending.
It is of no importance that you don’t enjoy watching us play. It really isn’t.

So, do you want us to play open expansive football because it's nice to watch, but we might not win anything?

We'd have gotten absolutely mullered by City a few weeks ago if we did that.

If you dont enjoy or appreciate the art of defending then you definitely dont enjoy football that much.

Re Bale, he still has the quality. I’m not yet convinced he has the desire to push himself hard enough to get back into the starting 11. It’s going to require a huge effort from him if we are challenging.
Absolutely this, IMO.

I get the feeling there’s some fear there, him worrying that he’ll break down if he pushes himself too hard.

I also think his confidence isn’t there yet. He was the main man with us before he left for Real, he’s the go to man for Wales. He never really asserted himself at Real because Ronaldinho was there, now it’s Kane at Spurs, with Son not too far behind him. Bale seems to thrive when the focus is squarely on him.

I don’t think he’s done by a long shot, but his mentality seems to be the issue at the moment, and he needs to sort that out fairly soon. If he doesn’t then I’m dubious about whether we’ll opt for a 2nd season out of him.

I don’t think that’s true either is it. Spurs don’t exist for your entertainment. I’ve been a fan for 30 years and this as far removed from the least entertaining side I’ve seen as you can get. For the vast majority of my supporting life we have been much, much less entertaining. This, what we have right at this moment, is good. Really good. It’s a shame you can’t appreciate that.

Why are we arguing about 1 assist? It’s not officially counted as a assist but yeah I agree he was involved in that goal

Still doesn’t change my point

Its not about one assist. You said he doesn't perform, doesn't score, doesn't create, but he's producing a significant contribution towards a goal every other game that he plays, even while he's out of form and been getting back to full fitness. If he does get his form back by the end of the season he could be a very important player for us. If he doesn't he still costs less than we'd lose through a failed transfer.

Anyway we'll never agree so let's leave it there.

You’re assuming the football will be more attractive?

This is childish, painful bollocks. We are actually winning games, controlling games, top of the league and scoring amazing goals. The players are playing their bollocks off for the manger. But you’re moaning because we are aren’t playing quite the way you want us to play. Do everyone a favour and wait until we’re not top of the fucking league for the first time in forever to moan about it. I honestly find it risible.

It wasn’t so long ago that we’d have been happy with one. :D
Yeah it took us until the 6th match in the league to keep a clean sheet (0-1 at Burnley). Now we are on 4 clean sheets in a row in the league. Very happy with the progress in that regard.

Realy dread to think what happens if Kane is not available for long stretch.

We adapt and play a different way.

We have had whole half’s where none of that has happened. I am a Spurs fan so I want to enjoy watching us play. Surely that’s important?

Every fan wants to enjoy watching their team. Most fans would also love to be where we are now - top of the league, top of our European group and in the quarter finals of the EFL Cup. If we were losing loads of games playing a style of football you don't like then you might have a point, but as it is...

When was the last time anyone created a clear-cut chance against this Spurs defence?
By clear-cut I don't mean set piece crosses, or hopeful shots from distance, or the odd individual gaffe (Rodon v Arsenal).
Say what you will about Kane, Son, or our lethal attacking play, but our defensive performances in the last month are miraculous. And a joy to watch.
This defense is not the finished product either. Lots of room for improvement.
Clean sheets is what wins titles, not a mix of 5-2's, 3-3's, and 0-1's with 70% possession.

Those subs are just a little insight into why Mourinho is who he is - and how it proves that he hasn't changed.

He gets the best out of teams in the first 24 months, thereafter all the cracks in his man-management really start to appear.

Any chance of Bale, Winks, Vinicius or Alli feeling good about tonight have disappeared. Say what you want but we will need those players at some point this season. And instead, Jose decides to put more minutes into Kane, Son and Sissoko. Makes zero sense whatsoever.

I sure hope we win something this season because I really don't feel confident about Mourinho actually building a squad for the long-term. He will leave us in tatters at the end of the day. He's a selfish prick - always has been, always will be. I'll support him because he's Tottenham's manager but I don't feel good about it.
I said exactly the same thing in a different forum.

I hope we continue our winning streak, because it seems jose has ruffled many feathers with his team selection and untimely substitutions. If we can maintain this run with spots of bad results then its ok, but if our form dips, this will not bode well for the dressing room.
