Even Emily Failed

I sit next to Stu at Spurs and have done so for about 15 years (since one season he just turned up in the seats next to us).

Stu has two season tickets: one for himself and one for one of his children.

He usually brings his son but 5 or 6 times a season he brings his daughter, Emily.

Now in all these years, Emily has never ever seen Spurs lose, Her record has become a running joke - we complain loudly if Josh turns up for big games.

But today the magic failed and for the first time ever Emily saw Spurs lose.

It's going to be hard for the club to recover from the disappearance of the magic. Drastic steps will be needed, perhaps a new Chairman.

Get a new Emily.

Yes, please
Ok three posts down from your post and a couple of insights on the previous page.?
I thought we worked hard enough, I don't think for a moment that we didn't put in a shift because we most certainly did, we just seemed unable to find a way through a solid defence, it's not that we didn't try different options because we did it's not that we didn't care because it's clear that the players did care and it hurt, but we just didn't have the spark today, maybe Kulusevski and Bentancur's absence made too big a difference and the one option we didn't have was a Richarlison to put himself about.
We definitely need reinforcements during this and following windows in a fair number of places.

Can’t defend, create nothing, out numbered in midfield every game, no drive or intensity. Board won’t invest enough, coach doesn’t want to be here & Arsenal are going to win the league. Happy New Year everyone

I think the problem is most of us fans think we are a football club , when we are actually a retail business selling tickets shirts beer and sausage rolls.

Conte is a coach. He has a way to play and forces his teams to do it. When he is given top quality players who fit he is a winner. Like Jose. Nuno and AVB were the same, just much less successful. Harry Redknapp was a manager. He saw what the squad were good at individually and got them to do it, with the style and tactics evolving out of that. And bought players to fit that system once it evolved. To a degree Pocchetino was like this too.

Levy/ENIC will not spend the fees or wages to get the best players to fit the coach’s tactics, so we shouldn’t be surprised that Pocch and ‘Arry were our most successful managers - and had the best style of play - of the ENIC era.

From here - either spend large and give Conte what he wants (unlikely) or find a manager who will make the best of what he is given. And I suspect they are cynical enough to choose Pocch so that his popularity with the fans papers over their latest poor decision.

What I don’t understand is why I’ve not been able to get tickets for any games lately - who the hell is insisting on going and watching that shite every week?!

This looks like the end of an era. Conte will leave at the end of the season, of course. And so will Harry and Sonny. Will be just like 2014 again, with Poch and a new crop of young players next season. High hopes again, but with ENIC, not enough investment to win anything, just enough to keep people interested and ensure ticket sales.
They’re deluded this time, you can’t keep charging people for steak whilst serving them spam. I see issues ahead.

'We haven't got any playmakers' I thought the consensus was he didn't want any!

Majority of Tottenham fans are happy with the worst midfield we have had for a very long time and think buying defenders is supposed to help this issue, Huddlestone would strole into this midfield.

They just come to boo and jeer our players apparently .

In a bad day all round the jeering of Emerson was the worst. What the fuck is wrong with people?

Lloris has been shit for ages. It’s nothing about a loss of form, he’s just too old now and way past his best

My point was he was largely very good for France, despite being shit for us before he left and then dropping another bollock on his first game back
