Games like this where teams have worked us out and have the quality to hit us on the counter/from set pieces is where we'll really see if Ange is able to translate his success in lesser leagues to the PL.

Quality is obviously relative but there are new challenges facing him this season in that every single PL team has quality all over the pitch, and even the lowliest clubs have one or two top players particularly in forward positions, offering more threat than he's faced before outside the CL (where his teams played well but consistently lost).

Not a criticism, an observation of how he handles this in the long term. Next season, we will need a squad shaped more towards dealing with games like this.

All seems very slow and back and forth in the final 3rd again. Too predictable most the time and just repeating it over and over

Teams have definitely sussed that the way to stop our flow is to rattle us and buy the ref.

Not that it needs repeating but we're really missing Son in these games. There were at least four occasions where we are corner of their box trying to play intricate 1-2's and you know that Son just shifts it half a yard and aims for the top corner.

Going to need 3 goals because we carry on like that, they'll score another. Frank has out coached Ange that half.

Deservedly losing.

Once again, lovely football at times until we get to the final third, where it all falls apart.

I don’t care what anyone says, our whole squad of attacking players aren’t good enough and we rely too much on Son.

I just hope Ange and the recruitment team can see it and address it in the summer.

Well that wasn't great. Brentford seem to have a couple of grade A shithousers in maupay and collins and they've got under our skin.

Thought Werner looked good outside of a couple of final balls in the last ten minutes.

Udogie seems totally off the boil. Not usually a fan of Skipp but think he's done well.

Could do with a tactical change but I don't think Ange works that way.

I think it has to do with a lack of a DM - all the CMs are getting caught up high, so Udogie, in particular is having to cover too much space - in front of the CB and out wide.

No, he keeps dribbling into trouble and making basic passing errors, none of those things are anything to do with the CM's, he's having an off day, it happens.

Let’s move on, it’s going to be tough breaking 11 men behind the ball down, but we have to find a way, even if it’s more direct such as crosses into the box, midfield following in etc
