Jose just found out a good deal more about some of the characters and 'quality' in this squad....

Gazzaniga is a fool. As is Aurier. Both simply not good enough to play for a team aiming for Top 4 in the Premier League.

Rose and Vertonghen are past it. Time to dispose of both ASAP.

Dier appears incapable of finding his old form.... Not sure whether it's time to give up on him completely, or is there any possibility that he could improve in a different role? (Remember his first game for the club when he scored twice from right back....)

Eriksen... we've all said it many times before... If he doesn't want to play for the club then don't give him the shirt. Same for any player.

Either way, without reinforcements in January, this team are going to struggle to finish in the Top 6. It's a long shopping list and not sure whether we can obtain the necessary players by the start of next season under the current transfer regime.
  • Defensive Midfielder (it's been a major need for some time)
  • Play-making 10 (of the same quality as the 'old' Eriksen)
  • Right back
  • Goalkeeper (even when Lloris returns, it's obvious that he isn't the player/leader he once was)
We will almost certainly will need to get rid of some, if not all, of the deadwood first. Problem is that the value of those players is falling significantly with every game that passes.

I live in hope.

I would add a left back to that list too.

I know it’s fantasy (beforeI get slaughtered by the sarcastic sorts who take things too literally) but if you look at that list and put Chilwell,Ndidi and Maddison in our team (hell even Schmichael) and day Max Aarons we look so much better.

if Jose wants to play more on the counter, for right now against top teams, play Foyth at RB. Verts at LB.
Play Winks and Ndombele and GLC in midfield.
Son shifting for left to right creating some width
Alli close to Kane

Against weaker teams play either RS or KWP at one of the full back spots.

In the cold light of day, and having gone through yesterday's game so many times, the bottom line is, we were shite. Top to bottom!! And the three amigos, Aurier, Gazza and Son didn't help the situation at all

I dont remember one period of good solid possession, where we were banging on the door, causing them to reshuffle. I still cant get my head around it. We all know that we need personal changes, but that said, we had enough talent on the field yesterday, to at least do what I mentioned above. A massive overhaul of the squad wont happy in January, we all know that, but it is needed.

Having followed Spurs since 1974, I was so excited about the Poch era and where we might end up. For me right now, the best thing that can happen, is for ENIC to sell up and have someone buy the club who will invest heavily in the squad, so we can compete with the others.

TBF, I think Levy and co have done a great job in many regards, but it is obvious they dont want to make the necessary investment in the team, to be able to compete at the highest level in Europe. They are only custodians, so if they dont want to do it, sell it on. I am sure there are many suitors out there who would jump at the chance. The foundations are there.

I was all against foreign money coming into the game, but I'd rather see us winning trophies season in season out, than continue to witness games like yesterday

There are multiple reports sitting in Westminster on who has been bought by Abramovic. One of these reports are done by the sports and culture commission which allegedly mentions a lot about football and who in the FA and refereeing association has been bought from UK Military Intelligence. These reports are not allowed to be published because the Conservative government has put British Secrets Act on these reports.

I have heard interviews with a Labour MP who believed that it is moreto protect their donors.

I am posting this here because you look at the decisions from yesterday and I do not think they were objective.

Not saying we deserved anything from the game we were poor I would just like to think we were playing on a level playing field.

PS Why have I not heard about the racist song that the Chelsea fans were singing about Son pretty much for 90 minutes.

What a fucking mess:

I mean just so many questions, why the fuck is Sissoko higher than Alli, no wonder our midfield looks non existent and Dier looks hopeless. Auriers offensive ability is not good enough to justify him playing that high.

Levys recent comments suggest no desire to be PL or CL champions which when you look at the infrastructure of the club it's all set for top level, but the power's that be have no ambition to pursue that avenue and whilst they continue to take in large numbers for winning nothing they see no need to change.

Still so pissed off with yesterday’s game. Pathetic showing. No doubt we’ll hear more of the ‘need to focus/learn’ bullshit.

Sissoko has many faults and he isn’t the answer but fuck me, I wish the rest had his attitude. Too many passengers and worse still, too many hiding. Lost a lot of love for this squad of players.

We'll find out soon that Poch wasn't the problem all along.

It goes higher than that. I was watching the Dallas Cowboys game yesterday and they resemble the exact same thing. Its complete complacency amongst the players because they know they have no competition & are unlikely to be replaced. Ownership cares most about their own pocketbooks first and foremost and the results on the field second.

Yesterday was once again another lineup with no new additions in 2 years. Its a complete joke. We went 18 months without buying a single player and then had the audacity to think that only 3 new additions would suffice. Chelsea in 17/18 bought fucking 8 first team players & a backup GK. Levy would never.

Deary me. The thing is, Alli in those positions is not good enough. We need a GLC or someone similar in that role.

WTF is Sissoko doing.

Dier and Sissoko, one of the worst CM partnerships I have ever seen.

I agree with so much of this. I was there and was looking forward to the game so much especially after watching Man U lose to Watford.

Then our game began! Chelsea were all over Spurs, faster to the ball, more dynamic going forward and basically bossed us all over the pitch. They forced us into errors and as the game wore on we found we didn't need them to force us as we could make mistakes without any help from them!

Dier and Sissoko should not be teamed up again as there is no creativity between them at all. Sissoko works his socks off, can break up attacks and can run with the ball but his distribution is terrible. Dier just doesn't seem to be the same player he used to be. Mourinho seems to like him but I think he's been watching clips of the Dier circa 2015-2017.

Aurier is another who oddly seems to be a favourite of the manager. For every decent thing he does he then makes a couple of errors and is too much of a liability, never very far away from giving the opposition an opportunity to score

I don't understand why Lo Celso doesn't get more game time? As far as I know he can pass the ball well and shows some inventiveness. He appeared to have found some form in Poch's last few games but since Mourinho arrived he's hardly been seen. I'm not saying he's the answer but I'd like to see him given a go.

I hope to have cheered up by Christmas day but it's going to take a lot of wine and food to drown the memory of that performance!

Judging but the looks of that map he isn’t even partnering him. He part of the front four.

I take it you're pairing Dier at CB alongside Toby in this hypothetical lineup?

I find myself coming back to the same point with Pochettinho. He stressed we needed to refresh the squad and let players go. He kept this club together as we built the stadium.... Levy reverted to
type and didn't back the manger imo. People laugh at AVB he built a functional team around Bale got us to a certain level, he was promised funds and wanted to expand our play with specific buys notably Hulk and Mourinho, Levy reverted t type thought otherwise and sacked him.

That game was one of the worst experiences I've had as a Tottenham fan and I've been following Spurs since I first came here in the late seventies. A humiliating loss against a team we are more than capable of beating. Our club associated with vile bigotry and prejudice while playing against a club whose fans regularly, in large numbers, chant some of the most repugnant anti-semitic bile I've ever heard in public. Not a good day for Tottenham.

As for the game we were undone by three terrible individual errors, two of them completely inexplicable and avoidable. The penalty and the red card came out of nothing. While Chelsea had more possession they had few real chances ( l stopped watching after the red card). With eleven men I think we would have put them under real pressure in the last thirty minutes. With the quality we had on the bench and Jose's ability to make good tactical changes in the heat of the moment we should have won this game. Unfortunately we were undone by a lack of composure and discipline by two players.

I am sure Mourinho can mould this team into a team capable of winning things. But his tactics require discipline, composure and intelligence. It will be good have Lloris back. Aurier is a continuing cause for concern. The midfield of Sissoko and Dier has its limitations but is reasonably solid defensively. Perhaps a fitter Dier with Ndombele, or with Winks will allow for a better transition from defence to attack through the midfield (rather than long balls from the back four). Son's weakness defensively may be a problem in successfully playing a game which requires long-spells of disciplined defending. Perhaps Sessegnon may be more suited if we continue to play this way but he lack experience.

An awful and sobering day for Tottenham fans.

I'm sure Jose would like to add/remove quite a few players. Until he can he's giving Aurier, Dier, Moura, Sissoko and maybe more a real chance to stake a claim. I'm pretty sure he's decided against several of these. Just because he picks them doesn't mean he rates them, he needs to see what they can do with a run in the team. Meanwhile he'll be looking at some of the youngsters. Whilstever we have a chance of top 4 he won't take too many chances. But I have seen in his interviews he is already thinking about the CL and I assume the FA cup. He knows this team couldn't win either of those. I expect a couple of cheap stopgaps in January and quite a rebuild in the summer. Don't expect too much in the next 18 months but he might snatch a cup.
