I get all that, and I don't really disagree with any of it. Thing is right now we have the best manager we could possibly have and he has to be given time to turn it around. He's told us there is no quick fix and everyone was pretty unanimously applauding his honesty just a few days ago. Then less than a week later there is a full blown melt down after losing to the European champions.
Mabye some are scared conte will leave but if so based on tonight then that’s silly because it’s the same players he took over and we are not even half way through Jan window and he’s not had a summer window so nothing has changed from when he joined apart from a few injuries are making things difficult for him.

Seen a few posts now about how lack of desire or fight wasn’t a problem tonight. Are you fucking kidding me?

A semi-final, against a bitter London rival, which we started with a two-goal deficit - and not one player picked up a yellow card?

Don’t get me wrong - I’m not saying players should use this as a way to demonstrate commitment, but it would at least demonstrate that a few tackles were made. Tonight was like watching a pre-season game ffs…

Not acceptable.

I think the reactions are a symptom of how far off we are from the best teams and we've sleepwalked our way to this bang average squad. 5 years ago I think Eriksen and Lloris were the most criticised players in our XI. We had that few weak spots. Hardly any of today's team gets into the Chelsea squad, let alone starting line up. No one really excites us. You're right about Conte but can you see any situation in which he's happy with his team come August? I can't.

In the words of Bunk from The Wire, how far we done fell.
We didn't sleepwalk to an average squad, we paid a lot of money for it. We just bought shit players.

I thought we should have got in their faces a bit more wind them up a bit - I know you can't get away with much these days but to nice the first 15 minutes we should have been aggressive setting the tempo instead they dominated us

Just back from game and I actually thought there were positives from the second half. Sure Chelsea might have dropped off but we finally looked like a decent team able to cause them probelms. In fact it felt like we created much better moments from our pressure and desire - the biggest frustration was always fucking up the final balls even when they simple. None more so than Kane putting Lucas through - that had to be either a goal or a penalty and yet we came away with neither because Kane, of all people, just overhit the pass by half a yard and Lucas went with his wrong foot.... Argh...

Would have been interesting if we'd just got one of those goals to see how Chelsea responded but wasn't to be...

Massive gulf though and we have sooo far to go but that second half was at least a few green shoots.

Some of you really need to get a hold of yourselves. Chelsea are a financially doped club, we'll probably never have a squad like them, (Liverpool's squad is poverty in comparison).
We played ok today, and with a bit of investment, and more time on the training ground I truly believe Conte will build a team capable of winning some trophies.
I know it's frustrating but put the knives down, have some patience, and believe.

??? more chance of us signing Dybala and scoring 3 goals in the last minute of this game

Since you obviously only remember the last game played: How did Arsenal do this weekend, since you are so confident they will beat us easily?

I'm convinced that managers communicate to players, explicitly or not, that there are certain games they aren't worried about winning. Conte will want to be in the Champions League next year. Our chances of achieving that are slightly better that we now don't have a Carabao Cup final to distract us from our top 4 quest. I'm expecting a significantly improved performance against Arsenal.
agree,
No distractions same 11 each week . Build foundations for next season. It’s got to be a positive and the best way forward.

A dose of calm, measured reality. Thank you Trix.

I'm afraid the reality of our situation is staring us all right in the face. Chelsea are on a different level to us at this stage of our new managers tenure, on a technical level. They keep possession far better than we do. They win possession far better than we do. They have stronger wing backs and a much stronger midfield who easily dominated ours.

I'm afraid to expect us to compete with them on an equal footing, when they're clearly good enough to challenge for the EPL title, is deluded. We're not there yet, but remember Conte has been with us just a matter of months and he hasn't had any opportunity yet to bring in any players of his choosing. But that will happen and very soon. Allegedly.

I hate losing to that bunch of ***ts but we can only do what we can do. The job ahead is to get to the same level as they are now, but Conte & Fabio must be given a chance to get their own players in and to coach them properly because God knows the coaching they've been receiving these last few years has been bloody rank, same as some of the recruiting decisions, but that's another story entirely.

Even so, I thought in patches last night we looked quite good with the ball, but those patches were far too short and too far between.

I'm as gutted as anyone else, but my heart still has hope that Conte & Fabio can and will make a real difference to us. Now, let's take our revenge out on the scum this Sunday!

Nowhere near enough movement from our forwards when we had the ball. Second half was easier as Chelsea sat back but first half all of them were poor and gave the midfield very little to work with.

Desire and closing down was largely disappointing too. Lo Celso in particular was at less than full throttle on a number of occasions.

We need to remedy all of that on Sunday or I fear the worst.

After browsing Spurs Twitter etc there seems to be a collective amnesia about Chelski being financially doped to the eyeballs by a Russian Gangster and that we should somehow be expecting Levy to compete with this financially.

This is not to excuse the bordering on negligent way the football side of our club has been run in the last few years.
We should be trying to bridge the gap with good planning and football intelligence.
