Yeah I'm honestly finding some of the comments in here beyond pathetic.

Everyone knows the situation. Conte himself has said we are lacking in player quality, we need to be patient and this is not going to be fixed in one transfer window. It's pathetic how a few days later there's a complete meltdown after losing 2-0 and then 1-0 to the current European champions. I honestly believe we don't deserve the likes of Conte actually trying to turn things around. It's truly laughable how spoilt we've become as a fan base it really is.
I think the reactions are a symptom of how far off we are from the best teams and we've sleepwalked our way to this bang average squad. 5 years ago I think Eriksen and Lloris were the most criticised players in our XI. We had that few weak spots. Hardly any of today's team gets into the Chelsea squad, let alone starting line up. No one really excites us. You're right about Conte but can you see any situation in which he's happy with his team come August? I can't.

In the words of Bunk from The Wire, how far we done fell.

Our support is embarrassing, out sung at home against
In my lifetime we’ve never had a manager this good, that’s why it’s different, if he walks away because he’s not backed Levy has no where to turn.
Levy will waltz back to his massive mansion giggling away as if he couldn’t care about RESULTS on the pitch. Balance sheet that’s where it counts.

Pretty much. Back then threads only quietened down after bedtime and on schooldays. Now the fuckers have grown up (physically) and are having at it pretty much 24/7. Out of that intake we only lost a handful who discovered girls and the pleasures of the horizontal hokey cokey so there's a lot of pressure for possession of the SC brain cell as there's so many more people on the waiting list these days.
In the states the hokey pokey is quite popular but in miami, it's the hokey cokey for sure. and thanks for the insight.

And fans will waltz away, when we go back to the 90s mid table shambles.

Let's not forget we had Hugo, regi, dier, romero, skipp, and son missing tonight.
What's scary is that those players along with Kane and Lucas represent the only players in our squad that are, IMO, 100% worth keeping. The rest are squad players or need to be sold and I would struggle to make a case for their usefulness to the club.

Hugo and Skipp were on the bench so not technically missing. Chelsea had James, Chilwell, and Mendy out with Kante and Silva only fit enough to come on as subs. We just have to accept that regardless of who we might have had in the starting 11 there was never a chance of going through or even winning one of the matches in the tie. We once had an amazing starting 11 and an OK subs bench, but have allowed that to become an OK starting 11 with a mediocre/piss poor bench
I meant missing from the starting XI whether through selection or injury. IMO if those 6 had started we're not losing both games. Clearly the squad has regressed massively through poor recruitment and a
manager churn but our strongest XI can be competitive under conte (especially with 2 or 3 key additions). Any weakening of that XI and we're screwed. Such a shame how the clubs been run in recent years

Pretty sure DL could hide in the trophy room/cabinet as we’ve got fuck all in there and aren’t likely to be using it in the next 20+ years!!

Chavs were fantastic over 2 legs men v boys
No they were not - they did enough to get through but they weren't world class - the way some talk you thought we had just played Pep's Barca or the 1970 Brazil team. Bet they get ripped a new one at the weekend

Agree. Hojberg has fallen off most people's lists recently as well

I get all that, and I don't really disagree with any of it. Thing is right now we have the best manager we could possibly have and he has to be given time to turn it around. He's told us there is no quick fix and everyone was pretty unanimously applauding his honesty just a few days ago. Then less than a week later there is a full blown melt down after losing to the European champions.

They managed and toyed with us whilst playing within themselves. That's worse than getting schooled Brazil 1970 style.

He can’t turn it around without big investment. Newcastle, spammers, Villa and others are improving, pivotal moment for Levy.

I'm glad you said it. I could hardly bring myself to type those words, but they've shown us exactly what we have to mirror.

They're perfectly able to keep possession and they're just as able to win it when they need to. They close the opposition down and chase the ball all over the pitch. They don't allow the opposition any time on the ball and they defend like their very lives depended on it.

As we are now, we can't do any of that and as we all know, there's no 'quick fix'. We don't have half a billion dirty quid to spend on players like they have almost every season, but what we can do is recruit wisely and work a darn sight harder than we are at the moment, because that's what teams like Chelsea, City and Liverpool do. They all work their nuts off and we don't.

Yet.

God it's amazing how much I do actually hate the bastards, and of all people RUDIGER has to score against us...!

Still, another easy game Sunday :poop:

People saying Conte will walk, get a bloody grip.
He hasn’t just taken this job and reasoned how bad the squad is, he would have known that and he would have known that it doesn’t get sorted out in Jan

If we had kept Nuno on I would have been concerned about fucking relegation. This season, with this squad is a write off.

The crazy thing is I think our best 11 is not far off Chelsea. Beyond that they're miles ahead. The more we dip into the squad the more I worry. Its like the difference between the quality we got used too under Poch vs the old Spursy. 6 1st team players missing was always going to be hard to watch. I hope we have at least 3 back for Sunday.

This last week has been pretty deflating really. However this was a cup break and if we get a win Sunday we keep our good home league form going. Big week to follow though with 2 tough away games.
