We’ve got half a team out including most of the spine of our team. In that context results are all that matter. Get as many fortuitous victories between now and the start of Feb as we can and then expect to rediscover some form in our performances when we’ve got something resembling our strongest XI available.

Massively let off the hook in this game. Clear as day if we stick with the style we play, we cannot have that many players with technical deficiencies out there at the same time. Lot's of endeavour and hard work by Skipp but he isn't up to it on a technical level to play this system. Similarly on the left hand side of defence, Davies and Royal was a hard watch because neither is suited to playing the intricate playing out the back style although to be somewhat fair to Royal he was playing out of position.

Felt like Everton worked who the weak links were after 30 odd mins and started targeting them and disrupting the way we play with the rot settlng in elsewhere in the team to.

Very much just needed the result. Started well, then we were lucky we held on to that lead. With Everton's form and our injuries, will take that. Even city last year had some grind it out wins despite a flat performance and Arsenal got a lot of points start of the season doing the same (even recently against Luton).

One more match closer to some key players coming back and a result that for now puts us 3 points off the top.

3pts! Happy Christmas!

With some of the players on the pitch that finished that game, just be thankful for the win. COYS!

The only positive thing about that game was the result. We can count ourselves very fortunate to come away with 3 points but having said that we got the 3 points with a much depleted side.

Lads you just take the 3 points. Did we deserve to lose against West Ham and Villa? No - we were far better.

People also keep forgetting we’re missing so many key players in the mangers first season.

Good result and ultimately that's what matters.

Idiotic last 15 minutes though.

Ange really needs to sort that out.

Somethings wrong in the head whether the manager or the personnel if you coach to be left with 3 attackers running against 2 at the back when you are winning and there is 2 minutes left on the extra time clock.

When Dyche went 4 upfront we didn't seem to adjust and it became a basket ball game which Everton were better at.

It's odd because Ange has shown he can be pragmatic - when he switched to 5 atthe back Vs Luton we saw out the game really well. Surprised we didn't do the same here.

With so many injuries and suspensions against the most in form team in the league a win is a superb result.

When one or two of the likes of Dier, Davies, Royal, Skipp and Hojberg are on the pitch we are going to be weakened. When they are all on the pitch at the same time we are f*cked.

Delighted to take the points and move on, get some injured players back and a few quality player upgrades coming in over the next 2 windows and we will be golden.

Posted this in the wrong thread so I'll just pop in here:

Fuck me. My fucking heart. What a back's to the wall performance.

I thought Royal was utterly superb under wave after wave of attacks.

GET THE THIRD GOAL NEXT TIME

3 points but that’s almost too painful to watch. Not sure we deserved that . The 94th minute sums up our naive suicidal approach to defending; 2-1 with minutes to go were on a breakaway , Lo Celso to Son the Son doesn’t quite pick out Kulusevski. Everton break and are 3 against 2 !!!!!! That is amateurish to say the least. As I said at HT it’s all well and good being exciting and good attacking but you’ve got to make sure you’ve got a lock on the back door. We were caught out far too many times at the back today but got away with it. We won’t be so lucky in future games.
We really need a lot of work on our defensive structure especially when we are in possession because when we lose the ball we are left far too exposed.

That will change with better players though, Dier, Davies, PEH, Skipp and Emerson at LB aren't the future, it's painful but it will only get better with players returning from injury and new ones coming in.

Not sure how Royal gets put in that group after today's performance?

Sure he's no Udogie but he was superb filling in. SHould have had an assist for the chance Brennan wasted - and repelled attack after attack on his side.

For all his ability on the ball Porro was dreadful defensively second half. He really struggles without Romero and Biss to cover.
