I thought game wasn't great, like watching International football, nobody played bad but passing was slow suppose its about getting fitness back.. So hard to take much from game except Ipswich are a poor side.. A win is a win no injuries & Everton could only draw with Blackpool 3-3
Blackpool were 3-0 up in 10 minutes apparently...

I wouldn't be taking much out of this game at all.

Problem is, unlike our midfield or even defence, we don't have any youth strikers coming through, with the exception of Parrot who is out on loan this season. So, definitely need a new signing up top.

Didn't we buy a young striker a season 2 back? I think Scandinavian

With a name like Dane Scarlett he’s going to succeed whatever he does. Next Spurs n.o9 or a filmstar, what a name.
That’s true. I had one of those moments when you see a kid footballer for the first time and think this is a lad one to keep an eye on. Wouldn’t be surprised if he had quite a few appearances for the u-23s at his tender age this season. He’s got the name, now needs the time.

We've got Etete, who appears to have some potential, albeit rather raw.
I think we were looking at a Scandinavia lad, possibly even had someone on trial but my memory's shocking. Don't think we've got any further than that though.

He definitely needs to play. He is young. A loan would be good. When he was at Leeds last season, he hardly played. That was a wasted year. Hopefully this season we could do better to further his development.

I’m not sure a loan would suit him at this point. He’s just come from a season where he’s been loaned twice and didn’t get much game time.
I read somewhere that he’s a bit of a homebody so maybe he just needs to stay within the fold at the moment get settled as he matures.

Gedson having a decent game at right back, albeit hasn’t been tested defensively at all, so far.

He’s actually very similar in stature to KWP, very slight build.

He’s looked good going forward. I still don’t know whether he’s good enough though for us.

Was Lucas a no 10 then?
He played in from the right a bit tucked in with Gedson overlapping
In the 2nd half Gedson didn't venture forward as much and played more as a fullback , Clarke came on and played as a right winger/wide attacker. Davies started to play at left back in the 2nd half and then Cirkin , Sess played as a left winger/wide attacker.

Winks is looking less and less attractive (in football manners). White and Devine coming up and playing well.

It makes you wonder if it's not better to cash in.
This.

If Winks was already playing so conservatively against Ipswich, and we have Hojbjerg beside him today, how much better or advance can we expect him to play against PL oppositions?

People like to say his duties will be freed up once Hojbjerg plays with him instead of Sissoko. But for those who have watched the match just now, Winks spent so much time at deep, trying to be the DM and dropping those passes around the area in front of the front 3-4 instead of linking the ball upfront. Some said it was interesting there was a double pivot between him and Hojbjerg. No idea how will Hojbjerg suddenly improve Winks in a double pivot when Sissoko and him played all that last season to such terrible standards. The issue is not about Sissoko or Hojbjerg, but Winks is not suited to a DM role and/or double pivot. There is no doubt Winks and Hojbjerg will exchange their position every now and then, but Winks has to own that space in front of Hojbjerg, not behind, for most of the time.

Dele was the linkup between midfield and the front just now. A midfield trio of Lo Celso, Dele and Hojbjerg are more flexible by all accounts than Winks being in there.

Feel like people are being massively harsh on Clarke tbh. He’s 19 remember. Personally thought he looked fine when he came on. Took on his man a few times. Nice cross that Scarlett was unlucky not to get on the end of. Few nice touches inside as well. He was hardly falling over himself. Worried people have already made him a scapegoat in their minds cause of the fee we paid for him. He’s a good young player.
