This may sound like sour grapes. And it almost certainly is

but i genuinely hope he goes now and we get to see a nippy front 3 playing like we did today rather than see that big dopey lump lumbering around and slowing us down again up front.
I guess you're joking.

I do think that Lucas benefits massively from Kane not being on the pitch. One of the reasons Lucas struggled was because he'd drift centrally but Kane would be the magnet, that would often mean Lucas is either in no man's land or just in the way.

No Kane means Lucas can be freed up a bit more and look for the ball. He's very useful to get into those central areas cause he can draw a player or two and everything opens up.

That was as much fun I’ve had at a game in a long time. I hope we manage to maintain the positive atmosphere in the stands going forward in the season in less charged games because, in addition to the 11 superb performances on the field, another reason we came away with 3 points today was because of the strength of the support. It was inspirational. And that’s the point of us really isn’t it. To inspire…

I must say that the ref was getting loads of stick for giving them foul after foul and yet a couple of times we deserved one we didn’t get anything. The corner we should have had definitely sticks out as he was right there in front of it and we could see it at the back of the south stand! Grealish going down at the slightest touch, Fernandinho getting his usual 5 fouls before a talking too etc. Maybe it looks different on tv but most of us felt he was pretty poor in that respect. And going By the players so did they.

The best part of that performance was watching Tottenham fall into their defensive pattern when Mac City had the ball.
The front 3 were around the half way line all in tight near the circle with the 3 behind filling whatever needed to be filled. Man City had no option but to go out wide which was clearly Nuno's plan... We handled that pretty well.
The other enjoyable aspect was the clear direct transition from defence to attack. We didn't mess about with it much at the back but looked to get it forward quickly.
Both of these aspects meant there was less chance of mistakes at the back, as our 2 CB's were not under constant pressure and therefore less like to make mistakes.

I enjoyed watching the training sessions through the week where they play one touch football, and I could really see it playing out on the field... This can only get better, and with an obviously fitter and sharper team with what seems like a great team spirit, I feel this will be a good year.

How could Harry not want to play for us :)

That Craig Mitchell is an absolute disgrace of a fan. I just saw some of the Kick Off and he spouted nothing but negativity about the club/team, has an absolute gob on him and is sat playing with his phone when we score.

He even works for the club apparently!!

He does not and should not represent the club and is clearly in this for the clout.

Hate fans like that

Have to admit that everyone looked a lot more relaxed today without feeling they had to look to feed Harry. The team ethos was very much on display.

So much to love in that short clip.

That Davinson tackle, Dele doing anything to stop the counter, Doherty assaulting someone.

Just beautiful

This was the problem last season, we only had hoijberg running around doing this, today we saw it from half the team.

I would also make the sidenote that Davinson and dier struggled last season (partly) from being so exposed by a lackluster midfield. Ndombele, winks and sissoko just don't do what skipp and surprisingly Dele did today.

Skipp had a good game if not a great one but he is a MASSIVE upgrade on last seasons midfield shambles. Absolutely no point in signing the Japanese lad if tanganga can do that every game as well.

Desire, effort, energy, aggression, love it.

Nah nothing unusual on the TV, just sounds like fans being fans in the stadium. Grealish when down easy but didn’t really get anything undeserved, apart from the Lucas tackle, but that wasn’t really a dive, the ref just got that one wrong. The corner was a clear mistake and we cynically fouled there players quite a lot too, and frankly I’d have given two yellows for tactical fouls we made that we got away with. Essentially the ref didn’t really book players for anything.

I wouldn’t say it was a well reffed game but didn’t feel there was anything particularly bias or unfair to either side.

One definite thing about today's performance is that anyone out there currently being considered as a transfer target could have only been impressed by what they saw.

Dare I say, with Davinson looking like a new signing, Japhet a nailed-on starter and today's MOTM, Dier back to his old self, Regi flying up and down the pitch - and our biggest signing of the summer slotting in at CB...

... we might just have our defense sorted for the season?

(let the rainbow ratings flow...!)

I get that. Just pointing out that sort of crowing after beating City in week one seems 1) a wee bit bit premature and 2) incongruous seeing as last season's result was actually better that today's.

If you look at the stats from today (34% possession, outshot 22 to 4, outpassed 599 to 318, etc.) one could be forgiven for thinking we hadn't actually played too much positive football at all and instead looked to score on the break. I love what I've seen of the team's togetherness under Nuno and hope it continues to grow, but the actual approach is not too dissimilar to the one we had under Jose.

I've seen a number of posts today rushing to prove others wrong (Dier and Sanchez playing vs. City comes to mind) and was similar. It would be nice to enjoy what is happened today and the good direction we're seemingly heading in.
If I look at the stats we definitely weren’t outshot 22-4. That was last year’s game, which undermines your point just a tiny bit. If you couldn’t see the difference in intent with the lead between this and countless games last season I don’t know what to tell you

Noboby hates them when they are this good but they have been undeniably below standard for much of at least the last 2 years. If you want to support below standard players then thats you but dont pan other people who know we need to be better (I dont agree with booing).

When will the penny drop that those performances were down to HOW the manager set the team up and invited pressure...which invariably will lead to errors due to the constant barrage of pressure.

Did you notice once we scored yesterday that we didn't sit back and continued going for the 2nd goal. Having a proper midfield in PEH and Skipp offering protection AND a proper RB helped their course as Centre Backs......very lazy to blame Dier and Sanchez as being poor when we had the 5th best defence in the league last season even when Jose continously chopped and changed his defence.

In short it was a product of Jose's coaching and system/style of play...early days but this is my feeling.

He's an absolute clown, such a weirdo who forces the negativity just to go along with the grain.
