In respect of the game I thought we played some fantastic stuff second half, fantastic effort and quality build up. Poor finishing and fantastic goalkeeping stopped what probably would have been a deserved win. 11 saves in a half FFS!

Kane injury (plus Sissoko) the bigger concerns than the result.

You totally misread my post, missed my point and now arguing tangentially.

My point is poch should stay here and develop his craft as he still has a lot to learn.

I know you.re new, mate, so I don't take it personally that you don't know you're literally talking to the person who first championed poch coming here, on this forum.

Have a nice day, sir.

Them being after him is one thing.

Him actually going to those extremely demanding clubs and surviving, is another.

The things he gets away with, with us, are wholly because he's largely cut his chops here in the prem and we're used to him and realise everything here is a work in progress and ever progressing.

That margin vastly reduces one he goes to that size club, who expect to win things consistently - Titles/CL.

Me criticising poch, is not "slating" him.

No one is beyond criticism.

And, as you say, especially not Levy.

I remember people saying that about him when he came to us, that he wouldn’t survive at Tottenham and I think you underestimate him if you think he won’t survive anywhere else. Where is your proof of that? All the clubs I’ve seen him at he’s done very well

I think Spurs and particularly Levy are extremely demanding too, as are the fans so I’m not sure where you’re getting your ideas from that Madrid and Man U are more demanding than us.

And by the way, ‘slating’ is the same as criticising. By saying he’s not ‘tactically seasoned’ is slating/criticising him. Stick to facts not fallacy.

I posted how hard I thought this game would be on the first page of this thread and now, travelling home I think what I said was borne out by events. Man Utd were playing like they were pumped up on adrenaline and confidence, they were trying for and reaching for balls they had no right to get and getting them and towards the end were throwing their body on the line none of which would have happened a month ago. I am nevertheless gutted because we had some great chances but just couldn't make them count. God alone knows what we're going to do with Sissoko out he will be a real miss until Dier is back.

Ben Foster has just backed this up. Positioning and standing strong make a huge difference.

Compare it to Hugo. Paul Robinson said Hugo over compensated to his left and gave Rashford more to aim for. De Gea didn't, he gave little for us to aim at, therefore our finishing had to be tip top.

I love Lloris but he doesn't half get caught out from that angle, happens very often.

Hugo often needs to come out and close the angle down more - he can be a bit static, ready for a full-length dive.

De Gea closes down the angle as much as possible then stands up and makes the striker beat him.

It was a collection of things.

All of which I have made critical comments on.

They had pacey wide players and we went narrow in the middle.

We kept relinquishing possession and they kept hitting the wide spaces.

We weren't clinical up top, but neither were we properly adjusted in midfield/at the back.

Where's the knee-jerking?

Knee jerking was probably the wrong thing to say maybe unfair constant criticism would be a better fit ?

Listen I don’t give a f about our injury list right now, we lost to United at “home” why are people trying to defend it?! They’re shit I don’t care what anyone says

They're sixth. Even when they were playing poorly under Jose they were still the sixth best team in the country.

They’re called plastic supporters, mate.

You know you're posting in a match thread where most people have been watching the game on TV?

Just back from the game....not sure what's more annoying playing crap and losing (Wolves) or playing well and losing like today.

I am these days always worried when Mike Dean refs' our games, because as I've said before all this "Spurs bias" talk means he has to go and PROVE there is no Spurs bias. It looked like he was doing just that from where i was sitting but haven't seen any replays yet.

so was he as bad as appeared to those inside the ground??
Honestly I think he wasn't to blame today. There were a couple of marginal calls - whether Kane was interfereing for the goal ruled offside if as it looked it was an own goal, and the yellow/red borderline from Pogba. But if I had to be 100% truthful from a neutral view I think he got both correct. He was at most a minor influence - the loss was due to awful tactics in the first half (far too high a line), and poor finishing in the second.

Don't think he was that bad, I don't think we can blame him this occasion sadly.

It wasn't him failing to put the ball in the back of the net time and time again...

On a train home. Gutted by the result yet heartened by the second half performance. Had we won 4-1 it would have been deserved. One
Of the best halves of football I have seen us play. No defensive midfielders in fact no midfielders as Dele and Kane dropped back using their immense talents.cant believe we had so many chances and did not score with the quality finishers we have. Definitely the most genuine chances Inhave seen us create for a long time

We looked tired and lathargic first half, but the lack of control in the middle is killing us. We’re constantly chasing players because we relinquish the ball too easily in the centre. As admiral a job Winks and Sissoko have done for us over this period, we are in desperate need of a natural, imposing, ball-playing midfielder (or two).

Second half we pushed ourselves but came across a human wall. Fair play to the lads for that huge exertion, but we look out of gas.

I’ve never seen us dominate United quite like we did second half. Even the last game at WHL we didn’t create the number of chances we did tonight.

Odd being so proud and so disappointed at the same time...

In the last half hour I've seen literally several thousand social media/forum posts bemoaning how unlucky we were. So lots of people are, as always.

Huff and puff was merely to reflect that you couldn't fault the effort, though looking a bit laboured to a man we did keep going till the end.

Huff and puff isn't the phrase i would use for creating chances at will.

We battered them really, but only ourselves to blame for not coverting an avalanche of extremely good chances.
