You know the signs when things are bad. The players didn’t back each other up and help each other out. The whole game players isolated without a team mate to pass to.

We need a huge clear out. We are in deep shit and look so much worse live than on tv. Honestly, this isn’t an over reaction. I’m worried big time.

Danny Rose is still the best LB at the club.

Danny Rose should not have been near the training ground in the last 18 months.

I don’t care what he’s done for us in the past, his continued presence cannot be overlooked when analysing our dismal current mentality.

One of the problems is we are too soft in the tackle, no weight in the passing, taking too many touches before making the simple pass, no movement. Whoever comes in has a Hell of a problem on his hands.
Spot on and Winks encapsulates nearly all of our problems, plus a few more (like tracking an opposition player when he makes a run). I thought that Alli tried to compensate for Winks being a passenger by helping Hojbjerg, but he is not equipped for that type of role. He is a bit of a luxury player, which is fine when everyone else around him are doing their jobs but not in this side.

Mason was shown to be out of his depth tonight , in terms of both selection and tactics. But it looks like he inherited a squad that is lacking in basic fitness and athleticism compared to even mediocre teams in the PL - what was happening in training under Mourinho, particularly as it is reported that they didn't do much attacking work either ?

If Kane does go , plus a lot of peoples candidates to be sold to finance a rebuild seem to include Dier, Winks and Alli, how does our homegrown quota compliance look and how would it constrain who we buy ? We have Skipp coming back and Sessegnon, but I assume that we would still have an issue. As good as Lloris has been recently, given his age and if someone like PSG will give us decent money for him, is now the time to cash in and buy Pope or Johnstone to help with this and plan for the longer term. Plus we could have an onfield player as captain - Lloris doesn't look like the type of character to get the team going when they need it

Today feels a little like one of those watershed moments to me. I feel like it’s the final death throws of the last few years and when it all finally ended. We had some good times over the last few seasons with no real success obviously but as we know-it’s better to fail aiming high than succeed aiming low. I wouldn’t say we have hit rock bottom but I think we NEED to for real change to happen. No EL or ever whatever that other Mickey Mouse europlop thing is. That will hit the club hard and maybe wake up those in charge. Getting into the EL will almost feel like we got away with it. The current keepers of our badge (both on and off the field) will have Bill Nicholson rolling in his grave.

Yes I've been thinking the same. It may just be that a season out of Europe is the best thing that could happen to this club right now. I never forget how during those two consecutive seasons where we were the best team in England we lost out to two separate teams that had no European football to contend with. For years before that we struggled to get into the Champions League in part because we couldn't get out of the Europa League (no coincidence our first top 4 finish came during a season without Europe).

if this season have thought us anything it is that St Totteringham's day will come at the last game of the season, with Kane leaving. Perfect reason for me to not pay to watch spurs next year as my PL provider is uping the price by 20%

This lap of honour thing.

Do we cut Dier some slack, seeing as it didn't really go too swimmingly the last time he got involved with the supporters. :cautious:

We won’t have a huge clear out, we will struggle to shift players as usual. The majority of these shits will still be around. And take away Kane’s and possibly Sonny’s goals and we will be closer to the bottom next time out.

Understandable, but with a new manager and 4 or 5 different faces in that team I’m sure there will be improvement, even though we’ll still be way off where we want to be.

Kane is likely to go which is a shame, but it helps to fund new signings elsewhere in the team. Also, the reaction from fans tonight may just have helped the likes of Dele, Dier, Winks to decide that they might be happier fucking off somewhere where they’re wanted, rather than trying to skate by on their big contracts at a club that’s too big for them.

I think all this just proves that poch overachieved and our players aren't as good as they think they are. No fight, no unity no teamwork. The cliques in the team need to be gotten rid of. starting with the triumvirate of winks dele and dier.
