Well the next match at WHL is the return of the Villa, what sort of game are we gonna get, Arguably spurs are on a role of late.

Just to let you guys im a villa fan, so am intersted in your views.

Just wondered if anybody would be interested in a two sided question and answers session. I currently run astonvillatoday.wordpress.com and have a feature called Opposition view and will gladly give you all credit.

So why not inbox me your questions

Yeh i think it will be a good game, i have to be honest in that i've not watched many villa games this season, so i'm not even sure why your strengths and weaknesses lie at present. I'm a bit worried about our former players coming back to haunt us (Hutton & Bent) although i think Walker might be on good form after his loan at Villa last season.

I'll also post a question here which i hope you can reply to.

What do Villa fans think of Jenas? Every time we have a Jenas debate over here at SC it gets pretty heated.

I blame Jenas.

Jenas has only recently featured for us on Saturday it is apparently that due to long time away from actoin this has made the recovery such a time for him to progress.

Villa fans are optimistic on the contry as we havent really gotta an attacking midfielder. It would be great if he got fit and featured alot on Saturday he came on and was quite energetic and could be the breath of fresh air we need.

I hve noticed on SC theres not much love for Jenas, why is it that i wonder.

Kyle Walker has come on leaps and bounds for you after having a loan spell at Villa.

Yea, will be interesting to hear the views on Jenas, although was Saturday his first game? Edit: Sorry just seen your answer to that.

Heskey was a bit of a nightmare last season but I think he went off injured and I also think we had Bassong playing then so I would like to think we'll deal with him better but all he has to do is watch videos of Zamora in our recent game to maybe get some idea of how to potentially deal with King.

I'd expect us to line up the same as we have the past 2 games, attack out wide with Bale and Lennon but also through the middle with VDV and Adebayor.

I think Villa will have to come at us and attack to get anything. I don't mean to go gung ho but if they for instance, pack the midfield and leave Bent isolated I'm not sure it would work. It's a tactic that's been successful for some teams at WHL but I'm not sure if Villa are the best at incorporating such a tactic.

Jenas came on for last 20 minutes towards the end when game was really dead and buried. He had a few forward runs from midfield to allow wingers to attack.

I have been to the lane the last three season, i love the ground, but last season Heskey did own your rb and I believe when we lost him that when momentum changed.

This season Heskey has been more a sitting back and absorbing the ball as he such a powerful individual and hard to shake of the ball.

I personally think that our 4,2,3,1 formation is something we should play as with heskey behind the bent he can link up with Gabby on the wings. I aint a fan of 451 its not how we get results

Villa vs spurs always been an exciting counter for neutrals perspective

Some of the criticism goes way, way over the top; he had a great engine, covered a lot of ground, passed neatly, contributed a reasonable number of goals. We could have had a lot worse. However, I don't think there are many who will say that he made the most of his gifts. If he had, he'd still be at the Lane. He was often accused of being anonymous, and whilst I'm not sure that was true he seldom if ever imposed himself on a game the way Parker has since joining us. Two or three seasons ago someone claimed that one of our coaches had told him that with Jenas it was all a matter of self-belief; he just didn't have all that much. Whether that was true or not I don't know, but it's certainly credible.

Good lad, though, and a model squad player who never complained about being sidelined. It was time for him to move on, though.

Bloody hell, you lot are in desperate need of a bit of Jenas-induced melancholy.

Check out this if you're after some!

Welcome to SC.

We are definately on a role atm, and are still winning even if the performances aren't there on the day. The run has got to come to an end at some point but I am expecting three points from this fixture, havent seen much of Villa this season but looking at your results you seem to be inconsistent despite having quite a kind set of fixtures to start off with, especially at home.

Are Villa fans confident coming into this game? What are your ambitions for this season? and have you taken to Mcleish? I personally dont rate him and think his negative tactics were a big part of your rivals getting relegated.

Jenas is a strong, fast, energetic player with a lot of stamina, decent technique, the ability to play good passes both long and short and a half decent shot on him from distance. He can also be handy in the air.

However, Jenas uses these skills very rarely. He used to do it a couple of times a season against Arsenal, and even that stopped. He takes no responsibility for moving the ball anywhere but back to the centre backs and full backs and he often hasn't got the bravery to make a decision so just dallies on the ball until he is tackled. He is a player with every ingredient you could want in a midfielder but none of the mentality.

Was gonna say lets not turn this into a Jenas thread... too late

I will say that SS57 gives a good summary of him, for me he did have a great engine but he seemed to have lost it and seemed more content with just sitting in the middle of the park, which isnt his strong point. Good servant but it was time for a change.

mpickard2087 Villa fans are optimistic about their trip from white hart lane and would say yes there are looking forward to their trip. My ambition for the season is to finish 6th in the premier league and now have a good cup run in the FACUP.
I have taken to mcleish even met him, he wasnt my ultimate choice but actually aint doing a bad job YOY we are about the same just needs time. Alot of negativately between the fans regarding previous in ability to use the youth. He has proven this with the emergence of Bannan and Herd. Players know they will be dropped and theirs players chomping at the bit to get in the door. This is something we havent had for sometime competition for places, the players wanna work for him.

If he doesnt wanna be at Villa he wouldnt visit the reserves and youth games and wanna interact with the media, he is not bothered about fans not liking hes here for a job and given time he will come good.

Cheers for the reply.

Think top 6 will be a difficult ask, what with Us, City, Utd, Arse, Liverpool and Chelsea. Trying to be unbiased but IMO not sure what order they will finish in but think they will take the top 6 places. After that though its up for grabs as we have seen for the last couple of years teams are so inconsistent, even if Newcastle have pulled away and surprised people, I think 7th or 8th is more realistic for you.

As for Mcleish yes I guess it is early days, he just has never stood out for me and was surprised you opted for him thought you may get a bigger name in. From what you say though it does seem like he is trying to build long-term by blooding some younger players and I guess you would hope he is given the time to put his plan into action.

One more thing.... you have taken Hutton and Jenas off us, can you spread the word at Villa that Pav is available.... £10 million should do it, fantastic footballer honest :shifty:

I fully expect us to win this game as I believe we have to much quality going forward for your defence to handle.

One key area that I can see being a complete mismatch is Bale v Hutton, the guy can not defend.

We are on a roll as you said, we have a pretty much full strength squad, playing at home and we are full of confidence so for me this game will be 4 - 1.

As dangerous as Gabby and Bent are that threat can be seriously negated if we are dominating and controlling the middle of the park which I totally expect us to be doing.

In short Villa will have to make the most out of the few chances they'll probably get but even if they do I don't think it will be enough.

Another 3-1 for us I think.

Welcome to SC by the way
