I think your memories playing tricks on you on a little

he’s only played 20+ games for us once - last year, under Jose, and he was decidedly average

the year of the CL he played 17 as a starter and hasn’t managed more than ten any other year

He’s 25 - not the 20 year old we all hoped would be “the one” when he showed that confidence on tour all those years ago

I don’t think there’s some midfield fulcrum waiting to be given the right chance - he’s not been a regular for either of the two managers he’s been under, even though he’s capable and technically very good

why would atleti see him as anything other than a squad player too?

Shhh. Wtf you doing? Let's butter him up so he'll easily move on.

I’m amazed Everton still want him after the utterly disgraceful performance he gave when they knocked us out of the Cup. Shame he hasn’t established himself at Spurs but now is the time for him to go. He seems unsettled and appears to believe he is a better player than he is. Maybe Spain will suit him but he will have to learn to not give the ball away so much.

Winks is one of a number of players who need to move and play for a manager and club who believe in them

feels like an agent leaked story...why would la liga leading atleti sign a player like winks?

...Everton are more likely his next destination - the traditional next step for upper mid-table midfielders

With that argument why not just stay with us :)
