Yeah, it's not a great look, especially considering this season is a bit of a free hit for Ange.
I'm not sure what ange's track record is for playing youth but maybe he just doesn't feel its either the right time or they are ready.

My son was Promoted to his first team before Xmas, all be it league 1, he loved it and desperately wanted to play, supporters online wishing it too, but truth of the matter is, he ain't ready in my opinion, whilst getting great feedback, I don't believe he is ready, several years away in fact.

He admitted at rhe weekend those first days he found it intimidating, but slowly getting used to big crowds and training and that, it was a massive learning experience for him.

I've watched our 21's and u18's play a lot, it's impossible for me to see whose ready, because opposition is at such a level under the top level, its difficult to judge, I can only imagine ange himself is focused on first team under difficult circumstances and going with those more experienced.

That being said, I spoke directly with Jamie and Alfie back in October and those and a few other lads were full of praise about how things were going since ange came into the club, whose club has been uplifted, although how long that remains - as trix said, promised the world in talks, is one thing compared to being given the opportunity.

I'm going through exactly the same process with my son, co teacts on the table, but need to figure out what is real or not is a real challenge too

Dorrington must be loaned. It seems Kelly from Bournemouth will join us.

i dont think Kelly will join us, unless the dragon falls though.

Emmerson and Davies have covered we will have a 3rd CB

hopefully we will sign just one CB and Dorrington can go on loan

Nobody seems to know the extent of Davies' injury, and we would still need adequate cover at LB.

Also, ITK suggested that Kelly is not dependent on Dragusin

ITK sounded a bit its a possibility, i doubt we will we only have 2-3 games in a month and if we sign the Dragusin, we will have 3 CBs plus Emmerson fit.

Dorrington and Phillips need loans we need to think of them for next season or the season after.

Realistically they are likely 3 seasons away from competing for regular minutes.

There is currently 1 Defender in the PL with 800+ minutes who is under 21, and only 8 who are under 22.

They would do well with progressively higher loans next season, and maybe even the 25/26 season when they will be 20, turning 21/

Homegrown Goalkeepers are I'm a really difficult situation as it's in a clubs benefit to keep them around for as long as possible and they usually end up as 3rd choice for a very long time without making any sort of breakthrough (ala Whiteman and Austin). Obviously it's a few years off but you have to be really cautious with long term deals that keep him on the bench for most of career

I think we need to keep Dorrington here for the time being. We are better finding a loan for him in the summer to the Championship or L1.

The one outlier I can think of is Quansah but then again he's 20 and played for Bristol Rovers last season.

Nah, don’t Pochettino him, if there’s a Championship side ready to give him consistent minutes that will be the single best thing for his development.

It’s a shame we aren’t loaning out Donley. Don’t really see the point of keeping him here. When Maddison is back he will probably not even make the bench

Rough move for Matthew Craig. Donnie are an absolute sh*tshow.
He's good though be q food move, fiest team football in a physically tough league.
He is friends with my son (his brother at same club as him), good lads them both

According to his Dad on Twitter a couple of months back we are looking to loan him out.

Seen a number of posts mentioning Véliz and grouping him in with Donley, Dorrington etc.

I think talking in terms of purely age that’s ok, but in terms of experience I think there’s a clear gap between Veliz and the others. He’s played in the top tier in Argentina and ok, it’s not the same level as the prem in many ways, but it’s still an adult league and the top level in that country which is very different from playing through the PL2, and U18/U21’s here.

Think it’s fair to say that whilst they are similar ages, Veliz is certainly ahead in terms of his experience and development - I personally dont see him as a youth player in the same way as I do Donley etc.
