Apparently. I though Pavs heading was pretty good anyway but with Les giving him some tips we might see some net busters.

I don't think Les can teach anyone his bravery. He got KO'd every other game putting his head where it hurts in the penalty box.

Teddy's penchant for shit-stirring is something we need like a hole in the head right now. Although I hope Sir Les isn't going to show Benty and Pav how he did it in the CC Final.

Someone mentioned Teddy was taking a year out anyway and had some poker tournament.

I don't see how this appointment can be detrimental to us as Les was a great pro. good to have him back at the club in some capacity.

someone also mentioned Teddy is a cretin. It was me and he is.

Les is not a cretin but not sure his communicative coaching skills are up to the grade.

All in all i'm starting to get a bad feeling about all this.

Les over Teddy? Booooooooooooooooooooooooo

I think it's very hard to judge whether a player will make it as a coach or manager. On the face of it, someone like Sheringham would seem like a great choice but I'm not sure if his on the pitch intelligence necessarily corresponds to how good he would be as a coach. It certainly wont do any harm (and I'd like to see him back at Spurs) but I think there are other attributes that are more important (e.g. I know a few very clever guys that would never make it as teachers, they just down have the communication skills and can't emphasise very well with their students.), and presumably Harry has identified these in the ex-players he's bringing to work with him.

No idea whether he'll be a good coach but he can always threaten to turn their gardens over if they don't score

3 goals or the daffodils get it :)

39 goals in 149 games, wow that's slightly better than 1 in 4. I had forgotten how prolific Sir Les was for us.

Hopefully he can make our strikers just as good as he was. 30 plus each for Bent and Pav now.

Not particularly impressed with this appointment to be honest.

Your logic is obviously flawed.

The logic isn't, but the sarcasm is.

He was just past his sell-by when he signed for us, and wasn't helped by injury in his first season. But although his scoring record for us was disappointing, he was lethal for QPR and the Barcodes.

I don't think Les is the type of mentality we need. He is a classic "man about town". Cheeky geezah who likes the nightlife.

And we know how much Ledders, Lennon Hud etc etc like a bevvy.

That is why I like the Sherwood appointment because he is a bit of a cnut :)

The mass clearout in a year's time will allow car boot sales in the car park.

I will now post sans sarcasm.

His strike rate wasn't good for us but was for QPR and Newcastle. He just doesn't come across as the most articulate of chaps and he certainly wasn't an intelligent footballer when compared to Sheringham.

I don't know what he is going to add of value, I might be wrong - I hope I am and Bent, Pav, GDS and Campbell become better players with his input. I associate him with a bad time at our club, he replaced my favourite player at the time and was a big disappointment.

You can say that his time with us was blighted by injury - and it was, but Teddy was a Rolls Royce, smooth and sophisticated and Les a Capri 2.8i, quick and powerful when he got going but past his best and a bit ugly.

I know Teddy may not be a better coach than Les but I would have been happier with his appointment. Both have no experience but my snap judgement would be for Sheringham.
